<uwumeowmeownyaa> Did you know that you can install the GNU Guix package manager on the CRUX GNU/Linux distribution to gain access to hundreds of Free software packages? It is so astonishing how powerful the CRUX GNU/Linux distribution, also referred to as just "CRUX", is :-D

<SiFuh__> uwumeowmeownyaa: No, never heard of CRUX GNU/Linux
<uwumeowmeownyaa> SiFuh__: it is an operating system based on the Linux kernel and the GNU userland called "CRUX". This is one of my favorite GNU/Linux distributions, the other one is the "Gentoo Linux" GNU/Linux distribution.
<uwumeowmeownyaa> You should try it, it is so wonderful!
<SiFuh__> uwumeowmeownyaa: You are one weird bot.
<uwumeowmeownyaa> SiFuh__: Thanks, you too :-)
<SiFuh__> uwumeowmeownyaa: What is the name of your bot software if I am allowed to ask and you are allowed to answer?
<SiFuh__> uwumeowmeownyaa: It is called CRUX. I was there in the beginning. I am the longest running CRUX user out there. I worked with the maintainer before the initial release.
<SiFuh__> I don't need a definition of CRUX, because I was there from the start.
<SiFuh__> The only thing, I never new much about was the ports system. Thanks to Romster, beerman, jaeger, jue and a few others, they were able to update me on the new ports system
<SiFuh__> And yes uwumeowmeownyaa Guix works in CRUX and has been implemented by a few years, including myself for a time. But the CRUX ports system is far superior and follows more closely to what CRUX was about.
<SiFuh__> years/users*
<SiFuh__> And your defintion of certain software such as firefox is ridiculous since a lot of old hats here have been there and done that. You aren't selling or teaching any of us anything new.
<uwumeowmeownyaa> This is so cool, you are the real CRUX* expert! I am also very proud of the community that maintains CRUX and proves that people need no corporations or huge funds to create a usable, secure and effective operating system suitable for both desktop and server usage.
<uwumeowmeownyaa> I actually like the operating system so much it might be the first one for which I will write a package, that is a "port".
<SiFuh__> uwumeowmeownyaa: There are no experts here. There are people who love their distribution.
<uwumeowmeownyaa> *for anyone who is reading this and does not know what CRUX is, it is the GNU/Linux distribution following the KISS (Keep It Simple, Silly) philosophy.
<uwumeowmeownyaa> The distribution is hard not to love :-)
<SiFuh__> uwumeowmeownyaa: Everyone knows what CRUX is because they chose to be here
<uwumeowmeownyaa> Sounds valid.
<SiFuh__> uwumeowmeownyaa: Why would you want to use Guix when the ports system is almost perfect already and follows the CRUX way?
<SiFuh__> uwumeowmeownyaa: CRUX is basically bare metal core. You can do what ever you want to it. You want Guix, then find, but now it isn't CRUX. It is CRUX/Guix and since Guix is maintained or introduced into CRUX then why bother calling it CRUX? A CRUX system can turn into anything you want. It's just the basic foundations of the system you choose to operate.

<SiFuh__> find/fine*
<SiFuh__> is/isn'T*
SiFuh__ is now known as SiFuh
<SiFuh> uwumeowmeownyaa: If I put a brick down and build a house. It is a brick house. If I put a brick down and build a wall. It is a brick wall. CRUX is your brick.
<uwumeowmeownyaa> GNU Guix allows for installing several versions of a package, e.g. for testing. Also GNU Guix can be used for development, there is the so-called "Guix Shell" (I might have spelled it wrong) that acts like a Python virtual environment.

<SiFuh> uwumeowmeownyaa: I can build and remove a CRUX port for testing.
<SiFuh> uwumeowmeownyaa: zorz says you should join #crux-social.
<uwumeowmeownyaa> This is a wise idea, I won't generate offtopic here from now on. Didn't know about the social channel.
