<beerman>
farkuhar thanks for the leg work. I'll get to it sometime shortly
<beerman>
right now i am more unhappy about the change in opt/libxkbcommon. exchanging xkeyboard-config with xorg-server doesn't work. the latter doesn't depend on the former. and thats why qt is unhappy with its footprint right now.
<beerman>
i have no idea if you'd usually need xkeyboard-config to run a xorg session at this point. Can somebody else chime in an say whats what? We need to either have xorg-server depend on it or we need to check for both xorg-server and xkeyboard-config in libxkbcommon
<beerman>
though libxkbcommon was right before it changed. it only needs xkeybaord-config to build the files in question.
<beerman>
jue do i oversee anything by any chance?

btw, i did the change in preparation of FS#1924

beerman: qt is unhappy with which footprint? libxkbcommoon? which qt port, qt6-base?

with big ports like qt5 or qt6-base, it would be helpful to see the tail of beerman's build log, rather than try to reproduce the footprint mismatch ourselves.
<farkuhar>
Right now xkeyboard-config only appears in the "Depends on" line of gnome-desktop and the xorg metaport, but some users might not install xorg that way. I'm thinking it might be enough to do s/xorg-xkbcomp/xkeyboard-config/ in the dependencies of xorg-server.

There is nothing to try, rebuild it from a core only base system => receive an invalid footprint
<beerman>
A build bot would be nice

jenkins and others can be integrated with gitea

jue I was missing your answers, sorry. Both qt5 and qt6-base
<beerman>
I received a mail from tsaop on something about qtwebengine which triggered me checking it
<farkuhar>
right, "try to reproduce" was not the best wording. I meant it would be a needless use of RAM and CPU to set up our own build jobs, when beerman has already done the legwork for us.
<beerman>
Yeah, long day at work here. I'll be home in a bit and see if i can investigate further or just shutdown
