jaeger changed the topic of #crux-devel to: CRUX (https://crux.nu/) development channel | Logs: https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/crux-devel/

<ivandi> beerman: i understand your frustration, but what about trimming down contrib
<ivandi> i am using 67 contrib ports: http://sprunge.us/mZU5FK
<ivandi> maintaining ports that you are not using daily is like, well, maintaining X w/o running X ;)
prologic has quit [Quit: ZNC - https://znc.in]

<beerman> ivandi: funny. Still a hard no to your request

jue has joined #crux-devel
<beerman> also there is no frustration about it. just a clarification that i don't take requests on things you or anyone else likes to have in contrib. if you want it, bring it in yourself. this is how this works

<jue> beerman: sorry, I forgot to say yesterday: /usr/bin/X seems to be hardcoded in xinit so the symlink Xorg -> X is necessary
<beerman> jue: can you push a fix for that? I don't run any X session any more
<jue> just remembered as I read the email from Xavier today
<jue> yeah, will do
<beerman> i haven't even read the mail yet
<beerman> thank you :)
<beerman> and which mail exactly do you mean? I have none
<beerman> sysvinit update, as far as i wrote out of their mailing list, is only documentation clean up and some code comment cleanups, no other changes
<jue> hmm, not in our archive yet
<beerman> still nothing over here, maybe the mail didn't go to the ml?
<beerman> yep, okay
<beerman> i have never used oldfiles before :D
<beerman> interesting. I made a cronjob with "find older than x days" basically for that
<beerman> but of course, oldfiles is a little bit smarter than that
<beerman> once my ba thesis is through, i'll have more time to play with stuff like that. before that, however, i can't

<beerman> farkuhar: hi! would you be willing to look at another script in pkgutils for the rename patch to be merged?

stenur has joined #crux-devel
<stenur> Would someone please stop the terrorist from messing with shitty bug reports?
<stenur> FS#1886 - qemu/qemu-all: add opt/qemu-doc, let both depend on that
<stenur> Additional comments about closing: I think this is long done. Reopen if not.
<stenur> That is just grazy.
<farkuhar> beerman: hi! Sure, I could look at another script in pkgutils. Which one needs attention?
<beerman> oldfiles, it's a perl script
<farkuhar> oldfiles, yes I remember seeing that discussion in yesterday's IRC logs.
<dlcusa> farkuhar, beerman--oldfiles is part of prt-utils, not pkgutils.
<farkuhar> dlcusa: thanks. Will check it out later today.
<beerman> sorry, my error, still heads in on other stuff
<beerman> i was made aware of something that made me look in the log. steffen, i hope you can understand that i do have you on my ignore list for good reasons
<beerman> you are making personal assumptions about people and you start name calling. i won't go that far. i don't care about you - at all.
<beerman> if you have problems, post a ticket. if you think this task was not done - reopen it. It's that simple.
<beerman> again - i won't be able to read your answers here and i am not looking to talk it out with you. get a grip or don't, i can't care less
<farkuhar> beerman: it looks like oldfiles is comparing the contents of $PKGMK_SOURCE_DIR and $PKGMK_PACKAGE_DIR with the files listed in .signature for each installed package. Any port that renames its sources will have the new name in its .signature file already, so /usr/bin/oldfiles should work without any modifications.
<beerman> Perfect! Thank you for the investigating! jue ^

<stenur> hobby or not, messing things to broken state consciously is so mediocre
<beerman> I guess the question if we actually want that is dependent on if we want to grant this request https://crux.nu/bugs/index.php?do=details&task_id=1793
<beerman> since you have been fiddling on this part of crux.nu, do you have an opinion on that?
<beerman> i can imagine that serving ports via git to all users might be more resource hungry than rsync is, I have no actual idea though and I don't see the need to offer them via git myself
