jaeger changed the topic of #crux-devel to: CRUX (https://crux.nu/) development channel | Logs: https://libera.irclog.whitequark.org/crux-devel/
<jaeger> Is there a public key for the xfce_4.16 repo? The one on crux.nu doesn't seem to be correct
<jaeger> nm, found it
<jaeger> Looks like at least mate-themes still hard depends on gtk2
<beerman> jaeger: thanks for checking up on it, bummer :/

<dlcusa> I've been scratching an itch about pkgutils the last couple days and produced an ASCII text write-up of what I hope to do.
<dlcusa> Please visit http://dlcusa.net/CRUX/pkgutils.localizations.txt if you can give 15-30 minutes of consideration about it's usefulness or other considerations.

<SiFuh> jaeger: I was thinking about the ISO awhile ago. How about an USB image that has two partitions one for booting the CRUX installation medium and a writeable partition where you can put your prebuilt ports
<SiFuh> dlcusa: Why does To have a capital T and of doesn't have a capital o :-P
<dlcusa> SiFuh, my attention to detail continues to slide. I used to be a top-drawer proofreader. Thanks for catching that.
<SiFuh> dlcusa: 3rd paragraph, last sentence.. wise?
<SiFuh> Hold on, I want to read the rest
<dlcusa> Sorry--able and wise are the two hosts I'm using.
<SiFuh> I thought you were trying to say 'in no way '
<SiFuh> This reminds me a bit of another package manager that can be used on other distros. I was talking with pedja about it last year
<dlcusa> Yes--"in no wise" is a KJVism. I really need more sleep.
<SiFuh> Never heard of it
<SiFuh> not in any degree, way, or under any condition
<dlcusa> It's a Middle English expression.
<SiFuh> It even said 'not at all' is archaic but that isn't correct because it is still common
<dlcusa> English is like that... ;-)
<SiFuh> TO be honest it is a pretty bad language.
<dlcusa> But we're stuck with it for now.
<SiFuh> Yep
<dlcusa> I've processed enough coffee to risk making the changes--done.
<SiFuh> I just messaged pedja on channel #crux to see if he remembers the package manager
<dlcusa> Thanks--that sounds interesting (though it's likely not pkgutils-based).
<SiFuh> Correct
<jue> Romster: seems that latest firefox has three new dependencies: libvpx, libwebp and libevent
<jue> I think the python dep is obsolete, builds fine here with only python3 installed
<jue> beerman: I'd suggest to add 'mv $PKG/lib/pkgconfig $PKG/usr/lib' to linux-pam
<beerman> jue: sounds good to me

<beerman> jue: any objections if i'll make changes with mesa etc to support wayland optionally?
<beerman> or would you want to do this pre 3.7 release in a 3.7 branch?
<jue> I have now objections to do it now if it breaks nothing else but I have no idea what needs to be changed at all ;)
<dlcusa> I made some minor readability changes to the localizations proposal.
<jaeger> SiFuh: should be possible, just would likely need to be a separate image as isohybrid doesn't have any intelligence like that, so to speak (at least not that I'm aware)
<SiFuh> I was thinking of removing the iso from it. So the USB image would be able to be easily used for updates and the ISO only for official releases for now.
<jaeger> Removing the ISO from it? You'd still need to keep its contents around if you wanted to boot it for installations
<SiFuh> Yeah, I was re-reading that it sounded a bit off
<SiFuh> For your updates just create the USB image and for the official create both
<SiFuh> Anyways, just an idea :-)
<beerman> Jue: no worries, I got things in my overlay 😁
