Can Beagleboard Beaglebone Black, be powered with RaspberryPi power adapter? What is the recommended mAH/Volt for it?
16:42
<
jakllsch >
BBB takes 5V on mini usb or barrel plug, probably want at least 500mA available, and that'd be better supplied on the mini usb
16:44
<
yang2 >
jakllsch: I have an LCD 4.3" attached to the device...got it used second hand. So does the same Voltage apply for that?
16:45
<
yang2 >
So you suggest to power it from PC USB port? that one is 500mA I guess
16:45
<
jakllsch >
if you've got a LCD you'll want barrel plug with probably 2A

not sure the PMIC lets enough power through the miniusb to power a LCD
17:14

and RPi is micro usb, not mini

I need a mini-USB for powering up BBB, that will be difficult to find...I thought it's being powered through micro-USB. What is the microUSB on BBB used for?
17:22
<
jakllsch >
power at OTG
17:22
<
jakllsch >
i'd use the BBB's barrel plug power jack
17:22

if you're doing a LCD

what is a barrel plug, do you have a photo

Good that you informed me, I already wanted to power it up over microUSB...probably that would of damaged the board

5.5x2.1mm or whatever

maybe 2.5mm center, not sure

yang2: there is no micro-usb on the beaglebone, only mini-usb. normally if you buy a beaglebone black it ships with a mini-usb cable included
20:31
<
zmatt >
no micro-usb on the beaglebone black I mean, some later variants did replace the mini-usb by micro-usb or usb-c
