<Siegurd> OK, BuildRoot starts 9 seconds from power up to login. That's amazing!

<set_> Just playin' Morti. Sorry.
<Siegurd> :)
<set_> Siegurd: Did it boot?
<Siegurd> yes
<set_> nice!
<set_> I struggled w/ the WiFi on the BBBW before today.
<set_> Some said do this, I tried "this," and guess what happened?
<set_> THat happened and not this.
<set_> Blah.
<Siegurd> Heh)
<set_> I am going to try again.
<set_> I do not quitter it.
<Siegurd> I believe in you!
<set_> Thank you.

<set_> I cannot wait to try the new commands from the .org.
nparafe has joined #beagle
<set_> I can update new kernels and images just from the command line!
<set_> That is neat.
<set_> No reinstalling new SD Cards and images burning. Does that sound right?
<Siegurd> yep
<set_> Double nice.
<set_> Siegurd: I have a couple BBB.io/.org boards and I want to build w/ them...cough. What step(s) should I take to initialize this quest?
<set_> Not joking here...I just know the boards already work b/c of the BBB.io peoples. But! I want them to work b/c of me.
<set_> I am building, trying to build, a Cape or smaller attachment board for the BBBW/BBB. This is my way of giving back to the community. People made this available. This is the first gift given but w/out proper reciprocation, I am just using.
<set_> Using is for abusers. I do not abuse the community (usually I do not these days).
<set_> Nice!
<Siegurd> Nice
troth has joined #beagle
<set_> Yep. Siegurd: Did you already review the buildroot process from Bootlin? They have an enormous amount of detail in the docs. section of buildroot.
<set_> I think they just updated it too!
<Siegurd> No, the manual is old. I go my way to build it
<set_> Oh. That was my mistake. I saw it said 2021 on it. I just guessed they were updating it. DANG!
<set_> Nice looking out old fried.
<set_> fried = friend
<set_> Blah.
<set_> I had to update the old manual up to the point it calls for WiFi. Then, I got busted losing. No WiFi!
<set_> Now, this may not be smart but it is fun. GEt this.
<set_> So, I want to try to run through the manual w/ my specific updates, get the board booted, and then add whatever whenever w/out stopping.
<set_> It is not easy. In one hour and 45 minutes, I lose it on WiFi access.
<set_> I know GenTooMan, take notes.
<set_> But!
<set_> Runnin' through the entire process on the fly is signifying excitement. That is all.
<set_> Seriously. When I push the last button before failure at WiFi access, I am basically slamming my tiny pointer finger down as hard as the key can bear w/out it crackin'!
<set_> Anyway...enough of success and failure. Back to the BBB!
<Siegurd> yep
<Siegurd> buildroot is so empty inside... Strange feeling. It reminds me QNX4
<set_> Oh. on this chat thing they call IRC?
<set_> or...w/ the actual installed sections that get plastered to the BBB?
<Siegurd> What?
<set_> "buildroot is so empty inside..."
<set_> THat line made me type what I typed.
<Siegurd> ah
<set_> I see their docs. are lengthy, e.g. nice docs. It is hard not to miss one simple snippet to make things work. I miss them all the darn time.
<set_> Is this what you mean?
<set_> I am learning about MCU stuff now, i.e. M4. I might place one of those suckers on a Cape one day. It is so difficult w/ the technology around the MCU M4.
<set_> Some people have been studying them for years. I am just starting!
<set_> TIVA!
<Siegurd> I mean that /bin and /dev folders have  only few files and you now how things are working.
<set_> Right-o!

<markand> we have a small screen on top of a beaglebone (4D system 4.3 LCD cape)
<markand> even though I've tried to recalibrate using xinput_calibrator, on the top of the screen the pointer does not move up at around 1cm
<markand> I mean, if you click at the very bottom and start sliding up to the top of the screen, then it stops moving up somewhat like 1cm before the top

<set_> I have a resistive touch display from 4D!
<set_> I used a .dtbo that was already produced by the .org.
<set_> And a barrel jack connector...I could not get it to work w/out the barrel jack connector.

<markand> set_, we suspect that the resistive screen is broken
<markand> using evtest we don't get the same values between the same coordinate at both edges

<zmatt> hmm, I'm wondering if it's possible to use the adc to diagnose that
<zmatt> markand: which overlay does it use?
<set_> Hey! How does bone_pinmux_helper work on the AI?
<zmatt> ah it's 4-wire, not 5-wire
rob_w has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<zmatt> set_: the same as it does anywhere else? contrary to the name, the driver is hardware-independent
<set_> Oh.
<set_> Okay.
<markand> zmatt, I don't know yet, for the moment we've given up
<zmatt> markand: "I don't know yet" ?
<markand> for the overlay
<zmatt> you can check in /proc/device-tree/chosen/overlays/ which overlays have been loaded
<zmatt> the schematic is showing it's a 4-wire touch screen though, for which the diagnostic options are significantly reduced
<set_> Is SSI in bone_pinmux_helper like CS for SPI?
<set_> I will check soon but I am wordless and that is odd. I cannot figure out what SSI is exactly (yet).
<set_> Forget it.
<set_> I thought something was something but it was nothing...

<set_> @zmatt: Is SSI CS for SPI?
<zmatt> ?
<set_> Let me show you.
<set_> I cannot figure out how to get CS for SPI for the BBAI.
<set_> well. w/out writing the part.
<set_> I am learning by helping for now. I am trying to help this person on the forums but I do not think they want to play along. I think the person only wants answers.
<zmatt> and by "learning by helping" I assume you mean "confuse and annoy someone with useless attempts at "helping""
<set_> Right!
<set_> insight and guidance is all I offer for now instead of technical abilities. So, I am a muse basically. Blah.
<set_> Still...where is CS?
<set_> Or...should I look elsewhere and then type up a SPI CS in a separate .dts?
