<tacokoneko> hello, is the current precompiled default image of Arago Project (TI PSDK) for AM335x https://www.ti.com/tool/PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X intended to contain functional SGX530 access for BeagleBone Black? The documentation strongly implies it should (grouping BBB as an "am335x-evm", discusses SGX530 throughout) https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/docs/latest/linux/Overview_Building_the_SDK.html but I don't experience this.
<tacokoneko> longer version of this question here https://pastebin.com/raw/xF9JdNdJ

<zmatt> tacokoneko: questions about TI's PSDK are probably better asked on their E2E forum: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum

<Padmakar> kernel version 4.19.94 ti-r64 is supporting only spi but not pwm at same time on beaglebone blue. so please can you give solution for this problem.
rob_w has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<zmatt> describe what made you come to that conclusion
<zmatt> since it sounds nonsensical
<zmatt> spi and pwm have nothing to do with each other, and I'm pretty sure both work fine on that kernel
<zmatt> ehrpwm0 (outputs A and B) can be muxed to the SPI connectors or to the GPS connector on the bbblue
<zmatt> (ehrpwm1 and ehrpwm2 are used by the motor outputs)
<zmatt> UT0 pins 3 and 4 can also be used as PWM outputs
argonautx has joined #beagle
<zmatt> as can pin 6 of the GP0 connector

<Padmakar> okay thanks @zmatt i will check it.
<zmatt> the right argument to give to config-pin is unfortunately often confusing on the bbblue
<zmatt> since the pins are often named after the corresponding BBB pin rather than something that makes sense on the blue

<jduchniewicz> I just found a good presentation from bootlin on shortening the embedded linux boot time: https://bootlin.com/doc/training/boot-time/boot-time-slides.pdf
<zmatt> my record (without putting a huge amount of effort into it) is 5.1 seconds from kernel start
<zmatt> (combined with a streamlined u-boot that takes about a second from power-on to kernel start)
<zmatt> jduchniewicz: not sure why those slides are making such a hassle of measurement... just use "systemd-analyze plot >boot.svg" to get a nice svg plot of what's going on during boot
<jduchniewicz> ah yes, this method you showed me before is awesome :)
<jduchniewicz> totally blew my mind
<Guest25> loopback test through SPI in kernel 4.19.94 ti-r64 is working but loopback of PWM is not working
<zmatt> here are some things that have large impact:
<zmatt> Guest25: what do you mean by 'loopback of pwm" ?
<zmatt> jduchniewicz: if you don't need the usb gadget (usb networking/serial) then "sudo systemctl disable generic-board-startup" will cut a decent chunk from boot time
<Guest25> sorry for the wrong input. i am asking only about loopback of spi
<zmatt> jduchniewicz: removing initramfs helps too
<Guest25> in kernel 4.19.94 ti-r49 the spi loopback is not working but the driver is initialized whereas in kernel 4.19.94 ti-r62 the loopback of spi is working
<zmatt> so use r62? you're really not giving enough useful information for anyone to be able to help you
<zmatt> I'm pretty sure SPI has worked fine in every kernel since ancient history, but I can't magically guess what you might be doing wrong
<zmatt> I need to go anyway
<zmatt> afk
<Guest25> Hi, this is our observation by shorting MISO and MOSI in different kerenels. kernel 4.19.94 ti-r42 support PWM but not SPI
<Guest25> kernel 4.19.94 ti-r64 support SPI but not PWM
<Guest25> in Kernel 4.19.95 ti-r42 SPI is not working whereas kernel 4.19.94 ti-r64 spi is working.

<set_> Well! I got these fancy USB-software motor drivers that can take 3.3v input/output. Nice?
<set_> I think so. Anyway...sorry for sharing.
<set_> I know, I know. "Stop set_ from sharing."
<GenTooMan> USB software motor drivers? (confused look of the day)
<set_> Ha. GenTooMan.
<set_> Yes.
<set_> They have a Mini USB connector for simple config.
<set_> These are my first and best taken care of motor drivers.
<set_> I have literally never used them correctly, hahaha, @zmatt.
<set_> I just figured out how.
<GenTooMan> well good, I guess?
<set_> Yes.
<set_> good, very good.
<set_> I feel like breaking into song.
<set_> Man, I was hoping that the BeagleV was a way to play .c files audio w/ the Beagle family of boards.
<set_> GenTooMan: If you have time, look at this!
<set_> Dang it. Hold on.
<set_> Have you heard of that source?
<set_> I was going to try to promote, install, and compile it on the V. Yes, I called it the V.
<set_> But...not now. There is so much you guys and gals are doing. I cannot wait to try to keep up again.
<set_> I went to the forum, there was a GSOC fellow discussing PRU, another about compiling the Bela IDE on the AI, and other stuff too.
<set_> One about config-pin but in uboot.
<set_> ...I type too much.
<set_> SOryr.
<set_> The motor drivers have a config. utility from 2012 but it still works for some reason.
<set_> There is RC, TTL Serial, and something I have been meaing to research, i.e. BEC. Hmm.
<set_> Battery Eliminator Circuit. Something about some batteries and RC stuff.
<set_> voltage regulators == BEC
<set_> So, I have a step down supply w/ capacitors for storage.
lucascastro has quit [Ping timeout: 250 seconds]
<set_> So, I have a 12vdc battery and I subtract 3.3v from the 12v which gives me 8.7v. Then, 5A * 8.7v = 43.5w. W/ that LDO onboard the driver, I can achieve 90%, give or take, of the 43.5w or 39.15w of power consumption w/ the voltage reg/BEC.
<set_> ...
<set_> Nice! That way, the bot, if I am still in control of it, can safely return in one piece.

<set_> @zmatt: https://pastebin.com/dgUWDep4 is something of importance.
<set_> The Grove Connector or UART2 or /dev/TTYS2 is not working correctly due to config-pin.
<set_> Is there something going on I should know about currently?
