<milkylainen> hrrm. Quectel pains anyone? I have a bg95-m3. Kernel lists it as 0x0203 and the regular bg95 (whatever that means?) as 0x0700. Mine says 0x0700 even though it's a bg95-m3.

<jclsn> I have a weird issue when the background of some applications is grey, e.g. in Steam, where it seems like some waves are coming from the upper left corner. It is a bit flickery. Some graphical glitch. Hard to describe. I think I had this issue back in the days as well and there is a workaround. Doesn anyone know what I mean?

* ukleinek wonders what ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM is about nowadays. After unselecting it, I can still select several platforms. Is this intended?
<arnd> ukleinek: yes, it's intentional, see 84fc86360623 ("ARM: make ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM user-visible")
<arnd> after (almost) all platforms are now able to coexist, the 'choice' list was no longer needed, and this now just controls visibility of options that make a kernel incompatible with other machines
<ukleinek> arnd: so it would make sense to do
<ukleinek> -depends on DRM && (ARCH_MXC || ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM || COMPILE_TEST)
<ukleinek> +depends on DRM && (ARCH_MXC || COMPILE_TEST)
<ukleinek> e.g. in drivers/gpu/drm/imx/Kconfig, right?
<arnd> yes, definitely. I missed that bit when I did the change. It's not a regression but the current logic is clearly a bug
* ukleinek prepares a patch
<arnd> ukleinek: I see six drm drivers doing the same thing, they can probably all be fixed in a single patch
<arnd> I wonder who did it first, and why
* ukleinek already looks for the other dependencies of ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM
* ukleinek only sees 5 drm drivers with ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM
<arnd> drivers/gpu/drm/exynos/Kconfig was the first, and it looks like at the time this was needed to enable it for both the old (PLAT_SAMSUNG) and the new (S5P, EXYNOS) targets
<arnd> so it should never have been copied there
<ukleinek> ISTR it was the same for imx
<arnd> robclark added that in 2012, commit c4ff7ef5cf7e ("staging: drm/imx: add support for ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM"), but it looks like that was not actually needed at the time, other than for compile testing purposes
<arnd> it could have been written as "depends on ARCH_MXC || (ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM && COMPILE_TEST)" to make that point clearer, but that wasn't important at the time

* ukleinek would have removed ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM in one patch per driver, but makes his life easy by following arnd's suggestion and doing them all in one patch.
