arnd: I am seeing ‘WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for TEGRA_BPMP’ when enabling CONFIG_CPU_BIG_ENDIAN in -next after 4ddb1bf1a83783c because TEGRA_BPMP is selected in SOC configs in drivers/soc/tegra/Kconfig
guillaume_g has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<arnd>
thanks for the report, I might have to revert my patch then, it's probably too late to figure out the right way to do it before the merge window
<arnd>
tagr: I see that drivers/soc/tegra/Kconfig is full of 'select' statements for various user visible Kconfig symbols, which is always a risky thing to do
<arnd>
tagr: do you know if those are all required for build time dependencies, or are these just intended for convenience?
cleger has quit [Quit: Leaving]
<arnd>
actually the 32-bit symbols are all fine, those are only user visible when compile testing
<arnd>
the tegra 186/194/234 option select MAILBOX, TEGRA_BPMP, TEGRA_HSP_MBOX and TEGRA_IVC, all of which are normal user-selectable symbols
<arnd>
CONFIG_MAILBOX is a bit of a mess, as we already have a mix of users doing 'select' and those doing 'depends on'. This should be fixed of course, but it's not a tegra specific problem
<arnd>
tagr: for the other three symbols, I think we should (probably for 6.3) either hide the symbols for !COMPILE_TEST builds and rely on the ARCH_TEGRA_*_SOC options to select them or keep the visible but drop the select statements
