<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> Hello everyone, my friend and I are trying to get armbian 23.02 Jammy Kernel 6.1.y to work on a Odroid N2+ boards. SD card image works fine but we want to boot it from external ssd/hdd via usb 3.0. A Ubuntu 22.02 can boot via built in bootloader(petit boot). But armbian does not boot when selecting the partition in petit boot. Is this due kernel version difference or do I need to alert the files on the preped SSD? Can anyone point m

<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius> don't use pboot? use mainline u-boot. the boot order should be USB, SD MMC.
<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> So if I understand correctly I need to flash u-boot to 8MB spi flash chip?
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius> i have no idea if that is doable in the N2+.
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius> i have no idea if that is doable on the N2+.
<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> Can u-boot also be installed on SD card?
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius> yeap
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> there is a bug in installer. was fixed but updates wasn't pushed yet
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> but don't know if spi boot / usb is supported
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> with n2
<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> Interesting, so this armbian-installer runs on first boot? Because we flashed clean image without any installation
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> no, no. this installer is if you boot from SD to install it to other media
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> in case of N2, you can make it to boot from SD and have root on USB, for example
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> and on those that has eMMC, also to transfer OS to internal eMMC
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> or to install SPI boot loader and run in from USB / NVME
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> but as every hw has different way ... its not simple
<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> Alright so you can run this script on installed armbian at sd card and follow the instructions
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> yes
<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> Something else, we are also fine with Ubuntu 22.02 but whether we are using Armbian or Ubuntu we get stuck at this docker error. We followed official ubuntu documentation for installing docker
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> that is the idea, it moves (copy) live system
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> docker bug = search forums
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> wasn't made by armbian
<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> Correct but you can find the same issue at the armbian forums so I was wondering if this is a known problem
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> "known problem" is LOL in Linux
<DC-IRC> <IgorPec> there are thausands of issues and is not possible to track them
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius> Or just flash this to SD https://github.com/pyavitz/binary/releases/download/images/meson64_odroidn2_plus-usb-boot.img and write the armbian img to USB. I just tested it. Booted right up.
<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> I'm going to try this now be right back with the results
<DC-IRC> <mr_thomasz> You are right, this can sometimes be very frustrating
