IIRC the rotating playfield is handled like the Sonic 1 special stages in that it's made out of sprites, except there's far more of them and the game actually reuses the hardware sprites using raster interrupts

the image fight port is funny, they didn't account for the difference in clock frequency on the OPM between the arcade board and X68K so all the music is a hair under 2 semitones too high
