Hello, i'm looking into getting rid of CONFIG_DISTRO_DEFAULTS for booting Android boards (such as the khadas vim3). The "obvious" solution would be to write a bootmeth_android.c but I'm not sure I have enough time for doing so.
<mkorpershoek>
Has anyone worked on booting android with the "modern" bootflow/bootdev/bootmeth commands ?
<mkorpershoek>
The fallback solution I have prototyped is using bootmeth_script, where I have a boot.scr.uimg that contains all the environment logic from include/configs/meson64_android.h
<mkorpershoek>
If I had to upstream Android support for the Beagle Play, would bootmeth_script + boot.scr.uimg be an acceptable solution or is implementing bootmeth_android.c a must-have ?

Tartarus: Is there any S: status in MAINTAINERS for boards we don't maintain anymore, or should we just remove the whole board support without notice?
<qschulz>
I haven't even booted the RK3368 Lion board and we're going forward with other more recent modules, so I don't expect we'll ever proactively spend time on it

Net147: if you revert that commit, does the issue go away ?
<marex>
Net147: have you checked newer lz4 versions, maybe this got fixed upstream since ?
<Net147>
marex: yes, reverting the commit fixes it
<Net147>
marex: haven’t tried newer lz4. it looks even longer and more complicated in newer versions compared to the original version
<marex>
sigh
<marex>
Net147: I wonder ... does the same problem happen if you build sandbox64_defconfig and run u-boot as native binary on your host system ?
<marex>
if so, you can try and run 'perf' on it and figure out where it is slowing down
<Net147>
marex: I also noticed print_resetinfo takes like half a second to iterate through all the sysreset drivers. After the commit that changes it to iterate through all of them instead of just checking the first one.
<Net147>
marex: haven’t used the sandbox config before. can it load files from host file system?

So I'm having a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem with this verified boot thing... my fitimage.bbclass generates a pubkey.dtb that contains only the signature node.
<Jones42__>
now I have to somehow get that into the u-boot devicetree and I'm not sure how to accomplish that. EXT_DTB doesn't work because it's only the signature node
<Jones42__>
Instead of using an empty pubkey.dts (L542) there should be the u-boot dts passed to mkimage via -K, at least that works when doing it manually. But then again I'm not sure how to solve that yocto issue with my fitimage recipe messing with my u-boot recipe...
<Jones42__>
I'm open for any inspiration :D
