<Clamor>
marex: irrelevant ATM, but thanks for an answer anyway.
<marex>
Clamor: did you make any progress on that regulator stuff btw ?
<Clamor>
Nope, but it is easy to check if this is tegra i2c driver issue or framework bug
rockosov has joined #u-boot
<Clamor>
Currently it seems more that tegra i2c driver is the culprit not the uclass code

Clamor: what was it, failure to do transfers early on ?
<Clamor>
marex: yes, the driver fails to xfer early. And this behaviour is persistent if the driver is not reconfigured by kernel or vendor bootloader
<Clamor>
So if I reload a known working u-boot after one that causes xfer to fail, the working one will fail too
<marex>
Clamor: did you try to dump the registers of that I2C IP (and pinmux and related clock) at that early stage and compare it at the late(r) stage ?
<marex>
ugh
<marex>
Clamor: that's tegra20 btw ?
<Clamor>
Tegra30
<Clamor>
But yes, the driver is the same
<Clamor>
I will start from registers I guess, it should be easiest of three
<marex>
yeah
<marex>
I recall toradex had some tegra SoM :)
<marex>
pivi: ^
<Clamor>
Yes
<Clamor>
Toradex has t20 and t30 boards
<Clamor>
I am still struggling with upstreaming my boards :(
<Clamor>
marex: legacy tegra (t20/t30/t114) in uboot is not as complex as I am trying to push it, keep that in mind

<marex>
I clearly do have some brainfog in the past few days (or weeks)
<marex>
Tartarus: I think nios2 is FUBARd beyond just this simple fix
<Tartarus>
Yes, I also suspect there is more than one problem :(
<Clamor>
marex: which boards I am mainlining?
<mps>
I don't know anything about nios2
<mps>
Tartarus: marex: I will test these two patches for riscv later at evening
<marex>
Clamor: yeah
<Clamor>
marex: transformer (t30), grouper, x3 (lg) and endeavoru

<Clamor>
This is the first stage I hope
<marex>
Clamor: I think I might still have the toradex tegra thing somewhere, I think it came with Toblerone (that I don't have anymore obv)
<Clamor>
Nice
flom84 has joined #u-boot

marex: maybe you can assist with merging? Though I suppose tegra custodian has to do all this :(
<Clamor>
Is it possible to request custodian change?

Tartarus: yeah, it is not that I have anything against tagr, but he is extremely occupied and involved in linux kernel stuff which takes all his time.
<Clamor>
This will def not benefit u-boot, especially since nvidia does not care about their legacy SoC.
<Tartarus>
Well, you can see if he's interested in sharing responsibility?
<Tartarus>
We do have some subsystems with more than one maintainer
<Clamor>
I am not an nvidia employee to maintain their stuff
<Tartarus>
That's not a requirement we have
<Clamor>
And my interest is more in older tegra stuf
<Tartarus>
That's also fine since yes, nvidia prefers to use cboot/etc only for anything even semi-recent at this point :(
<Tartarus>
(I've got a semi-working port for the first gen xavier stuff, but it wasn't 100% functional and I don't even have the platform anymore now)
<Clamor>
We have hacked uboot on all t30 devices after 12 years I suppose ;)
<Clamor>
*production devices
<Tartarus>
:)
<Tartarus>
And, well, for u-boot custodianship it's a matter of interest and time, rather than who you work for
<Tartarus>
So I don't have any objection
<Clamor>
Well, tegra custodianship should not be that hard, so I would agree if I had such a proposition
gsz has left #u-boot [#u-boot]
<mps>
Tartarus: patches works, I can now boot kernel on VF2. Though kernel still doesn't work with mmc or nvme but this is unrelated to patches you posted
<mps>
so I could add 'Tested by' if it patches are on mailing list (lets check)
<Tartarus>
Thanks for testing
<Tartarus>
and yes, they should be :)
