R.E. my patches to add the `gpt swap-position` command, I by happenstance noticed that `sgdisk` has the same command called "transpose", would that perhaps be a better name?

What are some of the most bare-bones (i.e. cheapest) boards that you've seen u-boot will run on? I'm looking to set up a bunch of as-cheap-as-it-gets teaching stations. I see the PocketBeagle is $43 (thought it was cheaper?). Thinnest/cheapest I've seen (but am having trouble sourcing) are the RockPi S, LicheePi Nano, and RPi Nano. I swear my

bighelix: Le Potato works well and is cheap
<bighelix>
Thanks! I thought le Potato was actually a beefy board more like an RPi. Will re-check it out.

<bighelix>
Wow... only $30 for a 1 GB LePotato. That does beat the pocketbeagle (!?). That is astounding, given what you get. Is there anything thinner than that? Surely if LePotato is only $30 there must be cheaper?
<JPEW>
bighelix: I think it's comparable to a Pi 3; but cheaper. Also IIRC everything is upstream (u-boot, kernel, GPU w/ mesa). It's not going to destroy performance benchmarks, but it's pretty capable for the price and good to learn on
<JPEW>
I've run doom on it before :)
<Sout_>
depending on what you need. i see u-boot is supported on the stm32 discoveries. those are fairly cheap
<bighelix>
too funny about Doom. Love that that still gets tossed out as a benchmark (of sorts).
<bighelix>
I'm really wondering if there are any dirt cheap boards out with less specs. Running Doom is way overkill. I'm thinking more for projects that can't quite work on an ESP8266, and just want a marginal (debatable) step up into having a real OS. And costing just a few bucks.
<bighelix>
In the grand scheme, that LePotato is a beast of a machine... surely there must be thinner/cheaper options out there.
<bighelix>
probably not the right venue to ask this, but u-boot seems like the minimum entry point :D

bighelix: Le Potato runs u-boot but still requires a binary. Someone is working to fix that. Tritium is fully open source top to bottom.
<Sout_>
https://u-boot.readthedocs.io/en/latest/board/index.html <-- should have a list of boards. but while not uboot. look at freertos, that can run on a lot of lowlevel boards. ie you can get a NUCLEO-F401RE for 13 dollars (that quick google) that will run freertos

<bighelix>
Thanks, Sout_. I'll dig around there. Also looking into the STM32 and trying to find some boards based off of it. Looks promising as well.

@xypron: thanks for the link. I will like to check...just to give a bit of context...the image used is made out of yocto build (u-boot + linux OS)...and that works fine with qemu virtualization...while vmware complains of some unrecoverable exception right after u-boot displays an log message...
