Tom Rini: Yes, I tested with an kernel built from arm64's default defconfig in upstream Linux (which does set CONFIG_EFI and CONFIG_EFI_STUB to y by default). I tested with an upstream u-boot running on QEMU's virt machine. After loading the kernel `Image` file, I tried running `bootefi ${kernel_addr_r} ${fdt_addr}` and... <Tartarus>
Is there a valid kernel at that address?
<csrpi[m]>
Yep, I tested with `md.b` at that address

`booti` command works fine
<Tartarus>
Yeah, I'm not sure what you're missing, but it's a normal standard every day thing on regular HW

Is there anyone here who can help me understand the configs/xilinx_zynq_virt_defconfig configuration file and how it works?
<NishanthMenon>
I take that back.. fdtoverlays seems supported in pxe_utils ...
<Tartarus>
NishanthMenon: Well, there's also https://systemd.io/BOOT_LOADER_SPECIFICATION/ now having devicetree-overlay so that's what we should get supported, but don't right now

csrpi[m]: probably what you may be hitting is that the linux does not have a built in decompressor on AArch64, if your image is compressed booti will not work. you need something to decompress it
<rcn-ee>
Tartarus: just tested the patch NishanthMenon mentioned pxe: add support for FDT overlays it does work, i kinda feel like it it meets teh spec... (you did commit v3 in v201.04-rc) wonder if we just add the offical "devicetree-overlay" tag along with the original commit's version? ;)

Yes, adding the now spec key word on top of what's in mainline should be rather straight forward

I'm trying to get a lx2160 based board up with u-boot v2022.04, however when TF-A hands off, u-boot doesn't print any output. I've tried having tfa calculate a crc32 of the u-boot image, and it matches the binary output. Any suggestions/tips for debugging tfa/u-boot handoff?
