He gone. I was gonna ask what his config looked like next.
<ocdtrekkie>
Maybe they will file an issue.
<ocdtrekkie>
We also probably should make sure the installer is still behaving well for port 6080 installs, because we seem to have gotten a couple reports like this lately.

<conani>
hey there ive been here earlier but i still cant seem to solve my issue :(
<conani>
any devs arround?
<conani>
ocdtrekkie hey there, saw you hitting me up after i left, sorry bout that. how can i check my config file
<ocdtrekkie>
It's your sandstorm.conf file in /opt/sandstorm
<ocdtrekkie>
It sounds like your server is basically installed, so it should be there.
<conani>
alrighty let me check
<ocdtrekkie>
Hide any sensitive information of course by replacing values with dummy numbers.
<ocdtrekkie>
So if your Nginx is using 80, you need to take Sandstorm off 80. We generally recommend/use 6080.
<conani>
alrighty, im setting the port as 6080 then, do i need to change the https port aswell?
<ocdtrekkie>
If you're not using 443 elsewhere, that should be fine. But if you have a port collision with either it probably would prevent Sandstorm from starting.
<conani>
i think nginx also listens for https on 443
<conani>
are there any recomendations for substitutes?
<ocdtrekkie>
So, are you going to go through Nginx to reach Sandstorm?
<conani>
yes
<ocdtrekkie>
So then I take it you don't need Sandstorm to terminate HTTPS for you?
<conani>
i can use revert proxy, ye
<ocdtrekkie>
HTTPS_PORT should be optional, you should be able to just remove it if you are doing a setup like that.
<ocdtrekkie>
Bear in mind the big hangups there is that you need both wildcard DNS and wildcard SSL to support Sandstorm's security model.
<ocdtrekkie>
Huh. That may be an error in our docs then, which say it's optional.
<conani>
it seems i have to remove the actual line
<conani>
its prolly on me :P
<ocdtrekkie>
Ah yes, don't leave it blank. Delete line.
<conani>
i configured reverse proxy and its still not workin
<ocdtrekkie>
Is Sandstorm still not starting if you changed the config to not use 80 or 443, and you restarted it?
<ocdtrekkie>
I think you broke your sharing links too.
<ocdtrekkie>
I get a "too many redirects" error trying to look at your config share now.
<conani>
i have set cloudflare to flexible atm because of let's encrypt's stupid policy of the domain having to be publically reachable before a certificate is issued
<conani>
i think i messed the the ip bind in the config, restarting it rn
<conani>
its loading the page but it seems to be doing so slowly, is this normal for the first startup?
<ocdtrekkie>
Shouldn't be slow. Usually when I start Sandstorm, it is running before I navigate to it.
<conani>
yikes my cpu is pegged lol
<ocdtrekkie>
Note that I can usually help people figure out why Sandstorm itself isn't running, or if their config for it is wrong, but I will rapidly be outside my knowledge area much past that. Especially if it involves proxies and Nginx and such.
<ocdtrekkie>
That would do it, but that shouldn't be Sandstorm?
<conani>
ye thats on the server itself
<conani>
thank you for your valuable help!
