<novakane> it would be cool to have a river-protocol repo, even just as a backup with no PR or issue, just a bit easier to get for 3rd party project
<novakane> could even be added to this site after https://wayland.app/protocols/

<ifreund> novakane: I think we should install river's protocols to /usr/share/river/foo.xml
<ifreund> then 3rd party projects wouldn't need to vendor them
<novakane> ifreund: oh yeah that's a good idea too

<leon-p> ifreund: marked the cursor state reset PR as ready to review. I am still not sure if its the right approach, but in my testing it works as expected.
<leon-p> I'll fix the same issue but on layout change another time

<tmpm697> hola river devs.
<tmpm697> I saw you fixed this issue: https://github.com/ifreund/river/issues/323
<tmpm697> how can I borrow to fix same issue with sway, enlight me :P
<novakane> tmpm697: looks like ifreund just damage the whole output on background/border color change

<ifreund> tmpm697: I fixed a different issue that was reported in the same thread
<ifreund> the other one is a race condition, I though sway had worked around that by special-casing its swaybg client but I guess not
waleee has joined #river
<ifreund> as for fixing the race condition, I'm reconsidering making the default background black and setting the color to solarized dark in the example init script
<ifreund> probably do the same with the borders
<ifreund> make them something really ugly like #00ff00 for focused and #ff0000 otherwise
<ifreund> (but set to nice solarized dark colors in the example init
<ifreund> only thing though is that then river will do nothing but display a black screen if the user has messed up their installtion, which isn't great
<ifreund> I don't think the status quo is really that bad either
<tmpm697> so the blink wallapper issue still not fixed in river?
<tmpm697> idk but black background one would help to reduce or fix the issue but having assets/wallpaper and set later wouldn't hurt.
<ifreund> It wouldn't really fix the issue, it would be a hack to workaround the issue
<tmpm697> well, my entire workflow that wrap river/sway already too hacky with bash scripts. so a workaround would be appriciated.
<tmpm697> by I'm using sway :(
<tmpm697> s/by/but
