liam1312's left, but first, the good news: there is a low-resource matrix homeserver that compiles on riscv. (to test it in the real world i'll need to figure out how to set up ngrok or tailscale dns or something)
<sixbitslacker>
the bad news is, lots of drama! also, doesn't support the full spec, so element works, but not elementx. not a major issue.
<sixbitslacker>
actually, more than that -- i had to restart the build a couple of times because i didn't have liburing-dev and libclang installed. 16gb ram megrez (so really 10gb ram)

Noticed on Canonical's risc-v page that they state the following: "We plan to upgrade the ISA level above RVA20 with the 25.10 release. Please, install the 24.04 LTS release if you need long term support for RVA20 hardware."
<sevan>
What does this mean for bottom of the range SBCs like the D1, support will be dropped?

sevan: RVA20 hardware will still be supported on the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS release until 2034
<sevan>
markh: understood, more that RVA20 applies to things like the D1, right? (don't expect the D1 to be supported in newer release)
