<razzy> off topic, how do you preserve privacy of your local data? I am not sure how dangerous is it nowadays.
<Regenaxer> I just try to make sure nobody can hack the server
<tankf33der> Hi all
<tankf33der> pil21 passed all tests under llvm13rc1
<Regenaxer> Wuff, already 13!
<Regenaxer> Thanks tankf33der!
<razzy> Regenaxer: but how much do you invest?
<Regenaxer> Time, money? Invest for what?
<razzy> yep, how much time and money is reasonable in todays world
<Regenaxer> hmm, there is no answer. Security is a permanent issue
<razzy> to be reasonably sure, that noone read my data
<Regenaxer> You must *always* think on every decision about its security aspects
<Regenaxer> And: You cannot be sure
<Regenaxer> See Pegasus!
<razzy> yes, but to make economic decisions it is good to know what most of attacks look like.
<Regenaxer> yep
<Regenaxer> But it is not an economic decision
<razzy> and I really do not know todays standards.
<razzy> Regenaxer: I am asking how average atack looks like.
<Regenaxer> Depends. For companies it is social engineering. For servers it is existing weaknesses.
<Regenaxer> vulnerabilities
<Regenaxer> in OS and/or applications
<Regenaxer> It can be anything, and it is always that what you did not think of
<razzy> what is most sophisticated known attack?
<razzy> so i know landscape?
<Regenaxer> An attack does not need to ae sophisticated. Can be extremely simple
<razzy> yes, could be simple. One of my rules is keeping least possible software and hardware to limit maintenance costs.
<Regenaxer> Good way
<beneroth> yeah that reduces attack surface
