Im the guy who would get `dap_init error` a few days ago, the issue was `ftdi_layout_signal SWD_EN -data 0`, I had it set to `1` instead
<
stefanolmao>
saying for the record if anyone has that error and the hardware looks ok after triple checking
<
PaulFertser>
stefanolmao: hi. That's odd. What SWD adapter are you using?
<
stefanolmao>
oh ehy
<
stefanolmao>
im using ftdi board
<
PaulFertser>
stefanolmao: bare breakout board?
<
stefanolmao>
Idk why I put 1 in that
<
PaulFertser>
stefanolmao: ah, that's what you get for using non-upstream configs. You should have just sourced ftdi/swd-resistor-hack.cfg instead.
<
stefanolmao>
Ah crap
<
stefanolmao>
but why does it work with 0?
<
stefanolmao>
It is set to 1 when the SWD protocol is selected
<
stefanolmao>
so shouldn't 1 be the right value?
<
PaulFertser>
stefanolmao: 0 means enable SWD mode but do not actually alter the state of any ftdi to switch direction.
<
stefanolmao>
I dont get it
<
PaulFertser>
There exist proper SWD adapters that have buffer switching depend on an input signal, and so this command specifies which signal to use.
<
stefanolmao>
oh ok
<
stefanolmao>
not super clear but I will search more info on this
<
stefanolmao>
for now it suffice to know its an hack to use the ftdi jtag adapter on a swd target
<
PaulFertser>
stefanolmao: it's a hack to connect TDI with TDO. If a proper buffer with switching is used then it's not a hack.
<
stefanolmao>
right
<
stefanolmao>
Thanks!
