I am very new to openocd (and jtag in general TBH), and I am trying to use a generic FT232H break board as cable

I have successfully been able to use a FT232R one for basic stuff, but I cannot make the FT232H work

Hm, I’m not an expert, but I would think “haven’t made progress in mpsse_flush” probably means either (1) a problem on the USB side, or (2) maybe you’re using a JTAG connection that uses RCLK or some other kind of low-level flow or timing control. Normal JTAG has its timing controlled entirely by the host, so it should never get “stuck” in that sense, rather if the target isn’t responding, it will be the OpenOCD software
