<inky>
folks so i installed gentoo, built kernel, on pinephone with keyboard. it boots from emmc.
<inky>
i undrestand this is not a gentoo channel. (: i took rtl8723cs firmware from maemo because linux-firmware did not have it.
<inky>
i did modprobe r8723cs, but no network. also no pinephone keyboard though pinephone-keyboard is modprobbed.
<inky>
maybe someone can point something out.
<inky>
yeah and i used maemo's kernel config. made sure that the 'drive controller' and xfs (which i use for rootfs) are enabled with asterisk sign.
<gnarface>
slow channel, someone might know but you'll probably have to stick around for a while
<CatButts>
How well supported is N900's hardware?
<CatButts>
I'm bored and want to take leste for spin
<gnarface>
worth trying, i'd say
<Wizzup>
wait we're a slow channel? :D
<Wizzup>
freemangordon: I think we can move a lot of devel to stable, yeah?
<inky>
not a slow channel. (:
<gnarface>
well, Wizzup here is responding to a post from almost 24 hours ago
<gnarface>
and i've missed 3 in other channels today from people who didn't wait even 1 hour
<gnarface>
so it's all relative, i was just trying to make sure you stuck around in case
<Wizzup>
I was literally flying from the us to europe...
<Wizzup>
anyway whatever, typically folks respond in minutes here :)
<inky>
i am always (almost) here.
<gnarface>
sorry, i didn't mean any insult, someone just asked a question in #alsa and left after exactly 9 minutes and 50 seconds. in #devuan people frequently leave after 5
<gnarface>
i'm just trying to do my part to hold communities together man!
<inky>
but thank you, yes. i understand it is frustrating when people ask and then go away and never come.
<inky>
and i notice late, and i know how to help, but they're not there.
<Wizzup>
gnarface: fair enough
<inky>
yes, to hold communities together. i am also, like to 'make kids to play together' kind of person. (:
<Gary[m]>
inky:there is a fellow on the matrix pinephone channel doing the same, is that you?
<inky>
i dont use matrix. but i think pinephone irc channel (official one) is linked to matrix as well.
<inky>
yeah, that's me. (:
<Gary[m]>
cool!
<Gary[m]>
don't see too many folks loading up gentoo these days...
<inky>
yeah, alas. i use it since 2005. fell in love and always use it. and windowmaker. so i got a bt mouse, and pp with kbd and mouse and wmaker was very nice to use. so decided to try my favourite setup, now with gentoo.
<Gary[m]>
awesome, last time I used windowmaker was in the early 2000's...freebsd.
<inky>
i even revived some dockapps. and in the meantime revived maemo's shermans aquarium live wallpaper.
<inky>
there was an old windowmaker dockapp - shermans aquarium. i now run it. because it was old and it was not possible to build it anymore.
<inky>
and that was also a base for a live wallpaper for maemo.
<inky>
but alas shermans aquarium wallpaper doesnt work under d4, though d4 video card in generally performs much much better. but under pinephone it works!
<inky>
(though recently it stopped working for me, not sure if maemo changed something or that's something on my device)
<Gary[m]>
and they said those days are done, long and forgotten, good on you!
<inky>
anyone, if you have some device and live wallpaper can you try to load shermans aquarium?
<inky>
yes, free software doesnt die. unless there's one person who loves to use it and is able to keep it alive.
<Gary[m]>
will do!
<inky>
s/unless/while/
<inky>
i also recently wrote and added to maemo repos comics-daily. today i opened the source again, to make it compile not only on linux.
<Wizzup>
I tried comics daily the other day but I couldn't get it to work
<inky>
omg! i use it every day. :/
<inky>
you just choose a comics from that menu on the left and press 'show'.
<inky>
when you press, it hungs, because no therads. it does http request, gets it, resizes, and shows.
<inky>
after it shows it is responsive again.
<Wizzup>
maybe I ran into some internet related hangs then
<inky>
i guess so. give it another try. and i'll add more comics to the list and make a new release.
<inky>
there's also an insect running around the screen while it loads the picture.
<Wizzup>
I did see that, that made me think I hit a bug, lol
<inky>
bugs, bugs everywhere!
pere has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]

i think for now the only problem is that pp keyboard is not recognized.

Wizzup: if you try again vcm sip on n900, few tweaks in farstream properties make calls working fine now for incoming. outgoing still hangs up on my device

(with vcm 0.8.0.15)
<freemangordon>
arno11: is that SIP?
<arno11>
yes
<freemangordon>
make sure you use the correct transport, what you explain looks like no connectivity
<freemangordon>
network issues
<arno11>
works fine with twinkle with same settings
<freemangordon>
ok
<arno11>
100% sure it is not the network
<arno11>
maybe codecs ?
<freemangordon>
pcma/u are supported
<freemangordon>
so I don;t see why it wouldn't work
<arno11>
ok
<freemangordon>
did you try some other "other side"?
<freemangordon>
like leste perhaps?
<freemangordon>
or linphone?
<freemangordon>
Wizzup: yes, I think most if not all
<arno11>
i tried between ippi and linphone
<freemangordon>
did you try between leste and linphone? with TCP as transport?
<freemangordon>
or UDP
<arno11>
yes
<freemangordon>
not TLS
<arno11>
yes
<freemangordon>
and it does not work?
<arno11>
indeed :(
<freemangordon>
devices are in the same network?
<arno11>
i tried on the same network and between 2 different ones
<freemangordon>
ok, stop vcm (using dsmetool) and then:
