<inky> folks so i installed gentoo, built kernel, on pinephone with keyboard. it boots from emmc.
<inky> i undrestand this is not a gentoo channel. (: i took rtl8723cs firmware from maemo because linux-firmware did not have it.
<inky> i did modprobe r8723cs, but no network. also no pinephone keyboard though pinephone-keyboard is modprobbed.
<inky> maybe someone can point something out.
<inky> yeah and i used maemo's kernel config. made sure that the 'drive controller' and xfs (which i use for rootfs) are enabled with asterisk sign.
<gnarface> slow channel, someone might know but you'll probably have to stick around for a while
<CatButts> How well supported is N900's hardware?
<CatButts> I'm bored and want to take leste for spin
<gnarface> worth trying, i'd say
<Wizzup> wait we're a slow channel? :D
<Wizzup> freemangordon: I think we can move a lot of devel to stable, yeah?
<inky> not a slow channel. (:
<gnarface> well, Wizzup here is responding to a post from almost 24 hours ago
<gnarface> and i've missed 3 in other channels today from people who didn't wait even 1 hour
<gnarface> so it's all relative, i was just trying to make sure you stuck around in case
<Wizzup> I was literally flying from the us to europe...
<Wizzup> anyway whatever, typically folks respond in minutes here :)
<inky> i am always (almost) here.
<gnarface> sorry, i didn't mean any insult, someone just asked a question in #alsa and left after exactly 9 minutes and 50 seconds. in #devuan people frequently leave after 5
<gnarface> i'm just trying to do my part to hold communities together man!
<inky> but thank you, yes. i understand it is frustrating when people ask and then go away and never come.
<inky> and i notice late, and i know how to help, but they're not there.
<Wizzup> gnarface: fair enough
<inky> yes, to hold communities together. i am also, like to 'make kids to play together' kind of person. (:
<Gary[m]> inky:there is a fellow on the matrix pinephone channel doing the same, is that you?
<inky> i dont use matrix. but i think pinephone irc channel (official one) is linked to matrix as well.
<inky> yeah, that's me. (:
<Gary[m]> cool!
<Gary[m]> don't see too many folks loading up gentoo these days...
<inky> yeah, alas. i use it since 2005. fell in love and always use it. and windowmaker. so i got a bt mouse, and pp with kbd and mouse and wmaker was very nice to use. so decided to try my favourite setup, now with gentoo.
<Gary[m]> awesome, last time I used windowmaker was in the early 2000's...freebsd.
<inky> i even revived some dockapps. and in the meantime revived maemo's shermans aquarium live wallpaper.
<inky> there was an old windowmaker dockapp - shermans aquarium. i now run it. because it was old and it was not possible to build it anymore.
<inky> and that was also a base for a live wallpaper for maemo.
<inky> but alas shermans aquarium wallpaper doesnt work under d4, though d4 video card in generally performs much much better. but under pinephone it works!
<inky> (though recently it stopped working for me, not sure if maemo changed something or that's something on my device)
<Gary[m]> and they said those days are done, long and forgotten, good on you!
<inky> anyone, if you have some device and live wallpaper can you try to load shermans aquarium?
<inky> yes, free software doesnt die. unless there's one person who loves to use it and is able to keep it alive.
<Gary[m]> will do!
<inky> s/unless/while/
<inky> i also recently wrote and added to maemo repos comics-daily. today i opened the source again, to make it compile not only on linux.
<Wizzup> I tried comics daily the other day but I couldn't get it to work
<inky> omg! i use it every day. :/
<inky> you just choose a comics from that menu on the left and press 'show'.
<inky> when you press, it hungs, because no therads. it does http request, gets it, resizes, and shows.
<inky> after it shows it is responsive again.
<Wizzup> maybe I ran into some internet related hangs then
<inky> i guess so. give it another try. and i'll add more comics to the list and make a new release.
<inky> there's also an insect running around the screen while it loads the picture.
<Wizzup> I did see that, that made me think I hit a bug, lol
<inky> bugs, bugs everywhere!
pere has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<inky> in any case, this is my dmesg: https://bpa.st/GZQWY
<inky> i think for now the only problem is that pp keyboard is not recognized.

<arno11> Wizzup: if you try again vcm sip on n900, few tweaks in farstream properties make calls working fine now for incoming. outgoing still hangs up on my device

<arno11> (with vcm 0.8.0.15)
<freemangordon> arno11: is that SIP?
<arno11> yes
<freemangordon> make sure you use the correct transport, what you explain looks like no connectivity
<freemangordon> network issues
<arno11> works fine with twinkle with same settings
<freemangordon> ok
<arno11> 100% sure it is not the network
<arno11> maybe codecs ?
<freemangordon> pcma/u are supported
<freemangordon> so I don;t see why it wouldn't work
<arno11> ok
<freemangordon> did you try some other "other side"?
<freemangordon> like leste perhaps?
<freemangordon> or linphone?
<freemangordon> Wizzup: yes, I think most if not all
<arno11> i tried between ippi and linphone
<freemangordon> did you try between leste and linphone? with TCP as transport?
<freemangordon> or UDP
<arno11> yes
<freemangordon> not TLS
<arno11> yes
<freemangordon> and it does not work?
<arno11> indeed :(
<freemangordon> devices are in the same network?
<arno11> i tried on the same network and between 2 different ones
<freemangordon> ok, stop vcm (using dsmetool) and then:
<freemangordon> QT_FORCE_STDERR_LOGGING=1 QT_LOGGING_RULES='org.nemomobile.voicecall.debug=true' G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all GST_DEBUG=3 /usr/bin/voicecall-manager
<arno11> ok
<freemangordon> and provide the output
<arno11> ok
<freemangordon> Wizzup: did you see my qpa fixes?
<Wizzup> I tried it briefly in conversations
<Wizzup> and the context menu worked :)
<Wizzup> let me check OMP
<Wizzup> great, seems to work now
<Wizzup> only diff with fremantle which I don't think matters is that I think on fremantle there's a blur effect when the popup shows
<freemangordon> hmm, right
<Wizzup> I called my d4 from microsip (from wine) and it worked well
<freemangordon> but isn;t that in the qpa plugin?
<freemangordon> if we want to implement blur we have to check what qt4 is doing to show context menu
<freemangordon> maybe they use gtk/hildon
<Wizzup> I said I don't want it :D
<freemangordon> but it must be consistent with gtk
<freemangordon> anyway, that's not something of a hight prio
<freemangordon> *high
<Wizzup> freemangordon: you said you used atalk for xmpp and it worked?
<freemangordon> yes
<Wizzup> ok
<Wizzup> well dino doesn't work that's not a surprise, it barely ever works
<Wizzup> freemangordon: did you try the context menu in portrait mode
<freemangordon> no
<Wizzup> I think it appears in the wrong place
<freemangordon> in conversations?
<Wizzup> for example yes
<freemangordon> it has issues placing the menu
<freemangordon> lemme check in omp
<freemangordon> in omp it is ok
<Wizzup> ok
<freemangordon> ok, vcm has some issue and it detects outgoing calls as incomming
<Wizzup> with sip here?
<freemangordon> with xmpp
<Wizzup> which client is this?
<freemangordon> sphone
<Wizzup> I mean on the other side
<Wizzup> both leste?
<freemangordon> does not matter
<Wizzup> ok
<freemangordon> fremantle, android
<freemangordon> also, sometimes I have to kill tp-gabble to be able to establish a call
<freemangordon> so, it is not stable, but we have something to improve

<arno11> freemangordon: got the results, can't share the entire stuff now but i can provide some recurring warn i received
<freemangordon> which is?
<arno11> srtpdec gstsrtpdec.c:816:validate_buffer:<srtpdec_1> No SSRC found in buffer
<arno11> srtpdec gstsrtpdec.c:1462:gst_srtp_dec_chain:<srtpdec_1> Invalid buffer, dropping
<freemangordon> are you sure both sides use tcp/udp?
<arno11> yes sure
<arno11> fsrawudptransmitter fs-rawudp-transmitter.c:622:_bind_port: could not set TCLASS: Protocol not available
<freemangordon> no idea then
<arno11> ok
<freemangordon> lemme try SIP here
<arno11> ok
<freemangordon> (again)
<arno11> btw incoming works very well now on my device
<arno11> (with few latency and buffer changes in farstream properties/options)
<freemangordon> arno11: the same warn here
<arno11> ok
<arno11> let me check other warns
<freemangordon> so, most of the time here there is no sound, but call is established
<freemangordon> this is leste dialing fremantle
<freemangordon> anyway, will continue tomorrow, night
<arno11> ok gn
<arno11> (no sound and no call etablished here, and every codecs fail)
