<dsimic>
so, it isn't just about changing the brightness of LEDs :)
<dsimic>
diederik: hmm, this gave me an idea for how to possibly solve one of the issues you pointed out a while ago... :) adjusting the drive strength should allow to make the blue USER_LED2 on Quartz64-B a bit easier on the eyes :)
<dsimic>
diederik: naoki: one of the possible issues with using git-send-email's --to-cmd in combination with get_maintainer.pl is when a patch series is sent that way... when the affected files belong to different subsystems, it's possible that not the entire series will end up going to all mailing lists and recipients
<dsimic>
which may cause one of the most annoying things, receiving patches without enough context :)
<dsimic>
the way I handle the lists of recipients is simply by using shell history... once you submit patches to enough subsystems, you already have the right recipient lists in your shell history, so just search the history and invoke the same commands again, possibly with some editing
<qschulz>
dsimic: wens: ahah, indeed, this could be done for protocols that can be mimicked with GPIO bit-banging (e.g. there is a MDIO gpio bitbanging driver already)
<qschulz>
dsimic: i would highly recommend to NOT do that, maintainers and reviewers do come and go, changing mail addresses also.. just run the command or use b4 to do it for you
<dsimic>
the whole thing with drive strengths also applies to the pins in general
<qschulz>
(and it'll prompt you if you haven't done it at least once for the current series)
<qschulz>
dsimic: yes, but wens point was that we could get rid of pinconf for pins muxed in GPIO function
<dsimic>
ah, of course, I check the list of recipients before sending patches, to make sure it hasn't changed :)
<dsimic>
otherwise, it would be like using a very old MAINTAINERS file
<qschulz>
I brought drive strength to the table, and wens said he only ever used it for pin in GPIO function to lower the LED brightness
<qschulz>
and I had forgotten about bitbanging GPIOs
<qschulz>
but other functions weren't part of the discussion :)
<qschulz>
dsimic: hehe
<dsimic>
I already caught one instance of the recipient list changing that way :)
<dsimic>
before sending the patches, of course
