<naoki>
btw ubuntu server uses efi/grub, which uses DT from u-boot (not from Linux file system)
<naoki>
ubuntu 24.04 uses 6.8 kernel, rk3588 support is very limited, but it can be installed on the board which is supported in u-boot
<naoki>
I installed it on ROCK 5C and some RK3588-based board
<naoki>
why do we need to wait to merge DT in Linux for booting distro/OS which doesn't rely DT from Linux kernel/file system...

naoki: the reason is that most of the reviewers are on the Linux side, and u-boot generally relies on that for dts review ... and dt-submitters often times don't get devicetrees correct
<mmind00>
naoki: i.e. if you leave vendors alone with dt (Rockchip, Allwinner, whoever) they invent strange and non-portable things

is there any good tool to extract email addresses from get_maintainer script?
franoosh has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<diederik>
not sure what you're looking for with that, but get_maintainer already does exactly that?
<diederik>
you give it a filename and it spews out a list of email addresses which you should (probably) add to To or Cc
<naoki>
well
<naoki>
--(to|cc)=<put just foo@bar.baz here>
<naoki>
I just want these output ;)
<diederik>
that's the part I do (soon hopefully did) manually
<diederik>
not sure if it's something you'd want, but `git send-email` also has a `--to-cmd` parameter which you can pass `scripts/get_maintainer.pl` as value (similarly there's a `--cc-cmd` parameter)
<naoki>
oh interesting
<mripard>
naoki: you need to pass --norolestats to get_maintainers
<naoki>
wow!
<naoki>
mripard: thank you so much! :D

b4 prep --auto-to-cc calls this script also :)

has anyone run SPI controllers (not SFC) at "high" speeds on RK3588? Seems like we may have some issues at 50+MHz
<qschulz>
45MHz seems fine but since the issue at 50+MHz couldn't be reproduce all the time nor with all boards... :)
<qschulz>
The TRM does say "When SPI Controller works as master, the Fspi_clk>= 2 × (maximum Fsclk_out)"
<qschulz>
the issue is that I have two clocks for the controller, clk_spiX and pclk_spiX, the former is 198MHz and the latter 100MHz
<qschulz>
(by default, I assume with some assigned-clock-parents I could get something else :) )
<qschulz>
that would explain why 50+MHz doesn't work reliably, but doesn't explain why "exactly" doesn't as well
<qschulz>
Upstream, I only see SPI devices with an spi-max-frequency of 1MHz, the PMIC, nothing else
<qschulz>
(aside from the flashes on SFC but that's a different controller)
<qschulz>
for starters, the driver says it can only reach 50MHz :)
