<Pinchiukas> I don't suppose there is a documented method of installing say Debian/Ubuntu on an Amlogic device? As I understand I have to build the specific kernel but how exactly do I put it on the box and configure uboot? And how (where?) do I put the rest of the system?
<vagrantc> /18/29
<xdarklight> Pinchiukas: I don't know any documentation but as long as they're using the arm64 defconfig you should be able to use the provided kernel (instead of having to build a custom kernel)

<Pinchiukas> xdarklight: what are you calling the provided kernel? The one in Debian/Ubuntu?

<xdarklight> Pinchiukas: yep
<Pinchiukas> xdarklight: that's find I can build it but I don't know how to put it in the box. :) I guess I should use a SD card or a USB drive?
<xdarklight> Pinchiukas: I'm an Arch Linux user myself so don't trust what I say about Debian/Ubuntu ;-). in general: if you get whatever distribution that you want on an SD card *and* your board has mainline Linux support you can use: https://u-boot.readthedocs.io/en/latest/develop/uefi/uefi.html#executing-a-uefi-binary
