I'm guessing there's some kind of deficiency in pinctrl subsystem of 6.6, since 6.10 with the same drivers boots fine. maybe it's not really an isolated incident https://github.com/LibreELEC/LibreELEC.tv/issues/9244 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
<diederik>
I just updated that bug as that is a known fix to a known bug and that patch is (now) already queued up for the next 6.1 version

cool, so it's just a coincidence

what do you mean by coincidence?
<diederik>
that bug was introduced in 6.6.37 (v6.6.36-7-g98db00947697) so a kernel version before that was fine, but after that was broken
<diederik>
sorry, the patch is also queued up for 6.6

coincidence as in my boot freeze with intel pinctrl, and similar RK3328 pinctrl problem from the issue above. both were triggered by enabling pinctrl drivers, but with apparently different failure reasons
<diederik>
ah yeah, that fix is only relevant for RK3328 based devices
