<TuxJobs> So, out of morbid curiosity, I wanted to check out how badly the emulators butcher the classic console games on LibreELEC/Kodi/RPI4, so I downloaded a bunch of them from the in-Kodi repository thing. They installed without errors, but since then, I've been unable to make any of them start. If I go to them in the list of add-ons, they just have the "Run" icon disabled/greyed out. Some of them even have the "Configure" icon disabled/greyed out. And if I
<TuxJobs> add them as a favourite and then try to run them from the "start screen", they say that something went wrong and that I should "check the log". What log? Why don't any of the emulators start?
<chewitt> You normally "play" a game ROM, which then prompts you to select an emulator to run it under, and then things start
<chewitt> so it's not "select an emulator and then load a game ROM"
<chewitt> The internet archive add-on is a reasonable front-end for things
<chewitt> my kids seem to manage to find old SNES games to spend hours on via that

<TuxJobs> Hmm... very cryptic interface.
<TuxJobs> chewitt: When I go to the "Games" option (in which I've made sure to set up the path where I put my various ROMs), it appears empty, as if it doesn't recognize the ROM files, so that can't be it.
<TuxJobs> I added a few for NES, SNES, Mega Drive and Nintendo 64 (same as the emulators I added).

<TuxJobs> It makes me kind of chuckle in despair that literally *everything* always is like this. Just makes no sense/is broken/undocumented/buggy/cryptic...

<TuxJobs> The (nonsensical to me) error in the log is: "error <general>: Libdvd: Can't stat \n error <general>: Libdvd: Could not open \n error <general>: Libdvd: vm: failed to open/read the DVD \n error <general>: Error on dvdnav_open \n error <general>: CVideoPlayer::OpenInputStream - error opening []"

<TuxJobs> Any idea what's wrong? I don't want to waste a ton of time and energy on this. I just wanted to see how badly it runs.
