<oblikoamorale> at the very least it's possible to create a systemd bind mount unit for that
<shibboleth> yeah, but i fear that happens too late in the boot process. i was looking at the other exceptions in .config/ but i can't find a list of exceptions/paths
<oblikoamorale> too late for what? unit allows to define service dependency on other services (Before/After/Requires)
<shibboleth> bluetooth init
<shibboleth> /usr/bin/rpi-btuart

<yang> I orderd RPI 4, which will replace RPI 3B+ which has 1 GB RAM. Will there be any improvement in speed/interface?
<yang> that said RPI 4 , 8GB RAM
<mack> yang: yes, in several aspects due to difference between the 3 and 4. The increase in RAM will make little difference. The greatest speed increase for me was to get the kodi database off the SD (even a high quality "fast" card).
<shibboleth> yang, very much so
<shibboleth> rpi4 is the first pi to not struggle with confluence/estuary (kodi def skin)
<shibboleth> neither pi struggle with video playback (hwaccel) but pis 1-3b all "struggle" with the ui. pi4 brings it pretty much on par with a proper pc
<shibboleth> pi1 was ridiculously "not good" with re to ui navigation/transitions, pi2 was manageable, pi3, 3+ were pretty... "ok-ish", pi4=nice
<shibboleth> which is kinda odd, seeing as even the first xbox was better at it (diff ui back then, though)
<shibboleth> that being said, other skins are less heavy on the pi than estuary
<mack> shibboleth: my Pi2b's confluence performance was as good as a 3 yr old Windows PC running kodi as soon as I migrated the db to mysql on the network.
<shibboleth> what, an intel atom?
<shibboleth> also, vc4-kms on pi2/3 seems less capable in terms of ui than the legacy driver
<mack> i5 - talking LE 8.x era here. 9 wasn't practical on the 2b for my use due to the change in default deinterlacer, which wasn't able to be changed globally.
<mack> the ui was fine on the 2b with 9. Just ATSC was horrible unless I manually changed the deinterlace method on every recording file,

<yang> thank you for your answers. shibboleth I noticed the remote control UI being kinda slow from RPI 1-3 (I had all of them), with what I understand is that if the SBC has less than 1 GB of RAM, LE will still read from SD card, but with RPI 4 / 8 GB it will only use RAM Memory?

<mack> yang: it will still make SD reads and writes for the kodi databases, unless the db is in another location like SSD or network.
<mack> or you could make a RAM disk with all that extra RAM :)
<mack> I'd not want to deal with configuring persistence for DB on RAM disk, though

<yang> mack: I have ordered the Argon One M.2 chasis along with the RPI4 and at some point I can use M.2 SSD drive with it
<yang> I assume that would speed up the performance
