Hmm, it resolves from 4.2.2.1, but not from the others I tried. Interesting

i resolve OK on 1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1, 8.8.8.8, 9.9.9.9

strange indeed... any opportunity for ISP intercept? any other domains being problematic? any chance for trying externally / DoH / VPN / etc... (for verification)
<lainpants[m]>
Fascinating, ok I'm guessing it's a regional (greater Seattle area) issue. Tried DoH, DoTLS, VPN to another site (also Seattle area, but originating from a datacenter rather than Comcast)
<Attie[m]>
all failed? ... is this an internal / local cache issue?
<Attie[m]>
(wildly off-topic now, but i'm intrigued....)
<Attie[m]>
that's odd too - +trace should lookup from "first principles" / the root servers...
<wiebel[m]>
dnstracer -s . -c glasgow-embedded.org shows some very sluggish responses. Not sure if meaningful but it can be that there is an issue with parts of the org tld.
<lainpants[m]>
oh here we go, if I +trace without @8.8.8.8, it will do a full recursive lookup from root servers, and it does succeed. interesting...
<lainpants[m]>
correction: it intermittently fails

yeah I'm guessing something upstream is having a bad day
