If I wanted to produce my own Glasgow, who is the PCB supplier used so that all components will more likely be in stock
<q3k>
the prod glasgows are not assembled by 1bitsquared in house, not at any commercial CM
<q3k>
i've had good luck doing a glasgow batch at JLCPCB though, but I did have to pre-order some components

I made 5pcs. PCB from JLCPCB. Components from mouser,tme,lcsc,aliexpress (most from mouser), and I've assembled at home. Manual pick and place was a pain.
<purdeaandrei[m]>
Did you get JLCPCB to assemble everything for you?
<q3k>
yes, other than the ESD protection which i added myself (was a bit expensive at JLC, but I honestly should've gone with it)
<q3k>
i did 10pcs and it came out at around 90eur/pc assembled

do they also offer parts preorder like the likes of eurocircuits?
<q3k>
no idea how eurocircuits does it, but JLC lets you order parts that are then kept in stock for you at no charge and that you can use for subsequent runs
<benny2366[m]>
that's what they also do
<q3k>
oh, one part i was missing was the magenta LEDs, which I also soldered by hand (JLC wasn't able to source them, so I sourced them myself from TME.eu)
<purdeaandrei[m]>
Did you find the components in their component library? Or did you get them to source it from non-lcsc sources as well. I've only ever used their component library. I remember at some point sourcing from elsewhere became possible, but when I last looked one had to use easyeda to do it. Did that improve?
<q3k>
i used their web interface to preorder more components, and they were all LCSC components or at least had the LCSC/JLC ID number. that doesn't mean they were all sourced from LCSC though from my understanding.
<q3k>
i didn't go through the extra process of 'i want a component that you don't have in your library'
<purdeaandrei[m]>
Oh, so you can pre-order things that have 0 stock in their library?
<purdeaandrei[m]>
If that's the case, then I had no idea, would make JLCPCB's assembly service a lot more useful
<q3k>
yes
<q3k>
after sending a request you get a quote and you can accept/deny it
<q3k>
some stuff i preordered was more expensive than expected, some was cheaper
