Well manually pick and placing is horrible. Takes ages, and my back is in pain. And I'm only done with the top side. Hot plate + hot air worked okayish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPKSArql3Bw

I got a few shorts, but I fixed those with a soldering iron.
<purdeaandrei[m]>
Most importantly the BGA chip looks okay, all the balls on the 4 visible edges look okay, for all 5 boards
<purdeaandrei[m]>
I can't tell what's in the middle but I'm hopeful
<purdeaandrei[m]>
Initially I was planning to just solder all components manually on the back, but now I'm thinking I should attempt to put the board on some stanoffs, and attempt cutting out the bottom stencil, so I can have a tiny stencil I can still put on the board.

My question: i’ve used a BusPirate and JTAGulator in the past. Would the Glasgow be a good new choice for something to let me first figure out the exact test point pinout, and then read/write to the NXP chip?

Hello folks!! I took apart my busted old Razor mouse and it has a nice big NXP chip on it, and a nicely labeled group of testpoints that says “Firmware Download”.

I’m an analog EE, not super skilled at firmware but i can code microcontrollers normally. I want to do more reverse engineering and firmware hacking with old tech that i am temporarily saving from the recycling bin 🗑️

hello I noticed on the latest design revision that there's a power trace going under the USB connector. it seems it might cause a short if there's an issue with the soldermask registration, especially since there's a via on the trace
