<whitequark> yeah, the protocols are not grat
<whitequark> s/grat/great/
<whitequark> to be honest, I used to be enthusiastic for sigrok, but lately I'm not so much, especially when it comes to pulseview
<whitequark> five years ago it seemed very promising but today it's in roughly the same state, and eventually you get tired of software seeming promising and want it to just work
<whitequark> it's not the fault of anyone working on sigrok, it's more a reflection of my changed priorities
<d1b2> <Rogan> Lack of ACK is possibly to ensure highest bandwidth/lowest latency, no? And if there is no reasonable retry mechanism ... Same reason that video chat protocols all use UDP rather than TCP, it seems to me
<d1b2> <Rogan> but assumptions could potentially be clarified with a revision to the protocol for programmable devices?

<d1b2> <TomKeddie> There is no ack of settings changes. There is no end of data signal. If you miss a byte time slot in the data it's considered the end of data. Its pretty much impossible to implement with an FPGA.
