<d1b2> <Iwiyl> Hi all. I am thinking of buying a Glasgow as a general protocol interface/analyser board. However I am set aback by the seemingly lacking of general documentation on how use it, and also of more specific documentation on how to program the applets (I am not talking about the language, but more about "how to make it all work together, the protocol, the board and my PC"). Maybe it simply is not a product for me. Is it just an impression? Should I
<d1b2> get one and start to play with it?
<d1b2> <Attie> There is a bit of a lack of documentation, but if you're willing to get stuck in, I don't think it's too problematic. The framework takes care of a lot for you (building, loading, data between PC and Gateware), so most of your effort can be focused on either side of the Glasgow components (i.e: interfacing with hardware / software)
<tpw_rules> i would bet that by the time you can manage to get your hands on one there will be a lot more documentation...
<d1b2> <Attie> I did some streams a while ago, playing with various aspects, and getting new applets running https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCLCjhrigqlR0lIRDPc_j964T8NVvSsl2
<d1b2> <Attie> (if you wanted a feel for it)
<d1b2> <Iwiyl> Thank you for the content. I will definitely check it out
<d1b2> <Iwiyl> And thank you also for the answers and opinions
<icb> Right now, only a few developers have Glasgow hardware. That should change by the end of the year, as the CS backers start receiving them. I expect documentation/examples/how-tos to get better when more Glasgows are in the wild
<d1b2> <Attie> no problem! ... I should have also said that the community is very open and welcoming, so please feel free to ask any questions!
<d1b2> <Attie> as icb says, once CS ships there will almost certainly be a flurry of activity as people get them in their hands

<jevinskie[m]> PyImGui is pretty popular and easy to use (if not limited compared to a full SDK like Qt). I’ve used it to great effect as an embedded system gui
<jevinskie[m]> Quick to set up some widgets to display values, modify registers, etc. Or are you thinking more about a gui for something like device programming specifically?
<lsneff> I was thinking a gui for using glasgow as a logic analyzer
<lsneff> Was just curious if anyone had done that yet
<d1b2> <bob_twinkles> I think there was half a plan to wire up Glasgow to the sigrok ecosystem so people could use PulseView
<jevinskie[m]> Not for Glasgow but a similar thing has been done with litescope https://mobile.twitter.com/enjoy_digital/status/1504126670156046345
<d1b2> <bob_twinkles> maybe scopehal would be easier to plumb through; that already has a TCP/IP protocol to support decoupling the scopehal core from various vendor SDKs
