<cyborg_ar>
i missed the early bird :( i guess i just get dirt
<d1b2>
<esden> @cyborg_ar everyone who pledged for a glasgow will get their glasgow. Just early bird will go out first, and then we will continue making them until all the pledges are fulfilled...
<cyborg_ar>
now if only ti would make any parts
<SnoopJ>
global crash-course in logistics
<ar>
how can one check if they're "early bird"?
<d1b2>
<esden> I think in your crowd supply dashboard, you can see what you pledged for.
<d1b2>
<esden> The pledge name should say early bird
<d1b2>
<icb> Your order will say "Glasgow revC - Early Bird" and/or "Glasgow Aluminum Case - Early Bird"
<ar>
welp, i guess ordering the day after it went live wasn't fast enough ;)
<d1b2>
<esden> yeah, they sold out within the first hour of the campaign being live ... :/
<d1b2>
<esden> 😄 hehe, don't jinx it folks... still a lot of work in front of us. 🙂
<SnoopJ>
:v
<Xesxen>
Awesome :D
<d1b2>
<tommythorn> It's hilarious because I had just checked on the project, it being the last of the N projects I have been waiting on for a few years.
<d1b2>
<maj> Great news! Thanks for the update
<d1b2>
<tommythorn> Congrats and sorry about you'll having to assemble it all, but hopefully it'll turn out to be a positive thing in the end.
<d1b2>
<esden> @tommythorn heh... yeeeah it will be "fun" :D... but on the bright side I can make lot's of photos and videos of the assembly process 😄
<d1b2>
<esden> @icb @SnoopJ @Xesxen @maj Thanks 😄 I hope from now on there will be much more regular updates as things progress. 🙂
<SnoopJ>
I like your PnP as well :)

hm. i just noticed on the order page, that the tax (VAT?) is already included there. what happens if i move to a different countrybefore glasgow ships?
jstein has quit [Quit: quit]
<d1b2>
<esden> Yeah VAT is included in the orders if I remember correctly. If you move to another country you probably should ask CrowdSupply support.
<d1b2>
<accelocomodator> Yes - when you move you'll need to update your shipping address, you can contact Crowd Supply Support and they'll help make the change and adjust any shipping charges if needed.

<TEM01*> Is there a way to know what order position I roughly am? I'm happy to be patient, but I don't want to start projects assuming it will ship at a certain time.
<d1b2>
<TEM01*> Also, is there an avoid shipping/local pickup option since you are doing the assembly? I understand that would complicate things, maybe not worth it.
<d1b2>
<TEM01*> Glad the parts decided to show up!
<d1b2>
<esden> The "fun" thing about the parts. They showed up on a bunch of 250unit reels. I bet they were meant as some sample reels or something similar.
<d1b2>
<TEM01*> ‽ I guess you got lucky and they were floating around somewhere?
<d1b2>
<TEM01*> That's going to be a pita
<cyborg_ar>
Yaaay
<cyborg_ar>
Best of luck with the assembly
<cyborg_ar>
esden: my guess is that even without the tax mess sending those precious parts over half a world away would have been risky too
<cyborg_ar>
I have had parts lost/smashed in consignment before
<d1b2>
<esden> @TEM01* yeah, lot's of reel changes... I might use that as an opportunity to try my hand at splicing feeder tapes... 😄
<cyborg_ar>
esden: ti has 250 part reels encoded in the part number sometimes, maybe thats what you ordered
<d1b2>
<esden> @cyborg_ar yeah shipping would have been stressful. And if I shipped it insured to calm the nerves it would have added even more to the costs.
<cyborg_ar>
Insurance cant replace the parts though
<cyborg_ar>
They dont exist
<d1b2>
<esden> @cyborrg_ar ... hehe... as if they were sending you exactly the packaging that you ordered these days 😛
<cyborg_ar>
Its like sending over the Mona Lisa
<d1b2>
<esden> they do sometimes ask if it is ok if it comes in different packaging ... but not always
<d1b2>
<esden> they did ask if it was ok that they send the FPGA on trays instead of reel
<d1b2>
<planet86> I think at this point nobody cares how parts come just that they ship
<d1b2>
<esden> 💯 😄
<d1b2>
<planet86> In the future you can look into a CM that has a bonded warehouse so you can avoid the double taxation
<cyborg_ar>
Make sure the floor is well swept before you start assembling, maybe put some flypaper down
<d1b2>
<esden> dedicates a cyclone filter for part recycling ;)
<cyborg_ar>
I wonder if cms started paying people to go through the pnp reject bins :P
<d1b2>
<planet86> Depends on the IC but they already do that in some industries
<d1b2>
<Holonium> I am really glad to hear that the parts have finally arrived, really looking forward to hearing more.
