<tkna> The '○' appears to overlap. What is wrong? https://0x0.st/HxS5.png
<tkna> The same thing happened when I set `Noto Color Emoji:size=5`.
<dnkl> tkna: it has a display width of 1, meaning it gets allocated a single cell. But the glyph in the font you're using is double width. Try padding it with a space
<tkna> dnkl: Sorry, what do you mean by padding it with a space? If I rewrite the text as `○ ○ ○ ○` instead of `○○○○`, of course it will be displayed without overlapping, but when I read emails and various texts, it will not change and the layout will be broken
<tkna> Does this mean I need to use appropriate fonts other than the nerd type?
<dnkl> there's nothing foot can do about that. You can switch the font that provides that particular glyph to one where the glyph is single cell. It's not certain, at least not to me, that that glyph is provided by the nerd fonts. It may be provided by a fallback font
<tkna> dnkl: I see. So the problem is with the nerd font, I will look into the past history of nerd fonts and find an appropriate font. Thanks kindly.

<tkna> Indeed, the size display format of this character code area seems to be very ambiguous: "basic single, but can be double depending on context". I understood that this is probably an inevitable inconsistency that is impossible to unify due to historical circumstances.
<tkna> 'Ambiguous characters behave like wide or narrow characters depending on the context (language tag, script identification, associated font, source of data, or explicit markup; all can provide the context). If the context cannot be established reliably, they should be treated as narrow characters by default.' https://www.unicode.org/reports/tr11/tr11-36.html

<mcepl> Is it possible to have different font size on different monitors in the multi-monitor setting?
<tkna> mcepl: I feel like I should switch scales, but is that not a good idea?
