hey dustymabe im in a little circular pickle here ... i have my applehv image booting and i am trying to get http over vsock working ... the boot completes, at the login screen it says no user information was provided and i am faced with a login
<baude>
everything scrolls by too fast, rd.break=cmdline never spawns a login (due to console = ? issues? dunno)... any ideas on how i can get into this more to debug? should i add a default user when i build the image somehow so i can sign-in and look at logs?
<dustymabe>
hmm
<dustymabe>
baude: maybe drop an autologin snippet in overrides/rootfs ?
<dustymabe>
I would say either do a rebase and force push OR close the stable/next PRs and let the tooling open a new one.
<marmijo[m]>
I'll just close the PRs. Will it reopen the on it's own, or will I have to readd the ok-to-promote label to the issues again
<dustymabe>
I think you'll need to add the label again
<baude>
well i did the graphical one
jpn has joined #fedora-coreos
<dustymabe>
seems odd to me.. it's especially odd that something like rd.break isn't working for you
<dustymabe>
makes me think maybe something in your workflow isn't as you think it is
<dustymabe>
i.e. somehow using the wrong disk image or somehow re-using a disk image that has been booted before (i.e. not first boot)

dustymabe: im close here ... is the fastest way to hack on ignition to make changes, then cosa build, cosa buildextend- ?
<dustymabe>
baude: that method at least is pretty foolproof

<baude>
you might speak to soon! :)
<dustymabe>
if you wanted to inject stuff directly into an initrd and then feed it to qemu that would work too
<dustymabe>
but I don't think you're using qemu
<baude>
nope
<dustymabe>
if you wanted to iterate on the Ignition binary itself you could build an image that pulled the binary from a webserver before running it
<dustymabe>
and then you wouldn't need to build a new image every time
<baude>
tell me more
<baude>
is there a mechanism or just mcguyver ?
<baude>
or in this case, McGruber
<dustymabe>
haha
<dustymabe>
i don't know of an existing mechanism - but you could easily modify one of the existing Ignition initrd units to curl first (though it would need to wait on Network)
<dustymabe>
sorry I probably shouldn't have suggested that :)
<dustymabe>
marmijo[m]: just a heads up - the kola-gcp test will fail for aarch64 on the testing/stable/next releases. It will fail in the upgrade test because this is the first ever release that has this artifact. So, the upgrade test failure is expected. If you see any other failures, let's investigate.
<marmijo[m]>
Sounds good, thanks for the heads up!
<dustymabe>
I disabled the pipeline to keep it clear for the prod builds - just enable it when you kick them off and re-disable it once they have been started
<marmijo[m]>
Okay, will do. The CI on the stable and next promotion PRs is going taking a long time. Hopefully it wont be too long until I start the builds.
<marmijo[m]>
s/going taking a long/taking a long/g

marmijo[m]: I just unclogged CI a bit
<dustymabe>
so hopefully those will get started soon
<dustymabe>
you can go ahead and start `testing` at least
<marmijo[m]>
Thanks, it looks like things are moving along now
