<hunter0one> jaeger: greetd indeed works fine. \o/
<jaeger> Great :)
<jaeger> I didn't have any luck trying sddm with kwin_wayland either, couldn't start a session
<hunter0one> I think we may just transition to greetd, if I can convince tex to
<hunter0one> He said he would take kdm back any day lol
<jaeger> heh
<hunter0one> jaeger: You may have to manually change the /usr/share/wayland-session Plasma .desktop file to have something like ck-launch-session dbus-run-session startplasma-wayland. We also have to manually create a /tmp/.X11-unix because it flips out without it
<jaeger> I have ck-launch-session in the session file locally, just haven't pushed it yet
<jaeger> It's odd, I can run a session without it on an AMD GPU but it's required for an Nvidia GPU
<hunter0one> Without ck-launch-session?
<jaeger> Yes
<hunter0one> Huh, I have an AMD GPU and it wont work without it
<hunter0one> Maybe something to do with DRM leasing
<jaeger> I believe so because the nvidia system complains about /dev/dri/card0 not existing without it, even though the device does exist with proper permissions
<hunter0one> Do you use agreety or another greeter for greetd?
<jaeger> tuigreet
<hunter0one> looks nice
<hunter0one> I only tried agreety to see if it worked, thankfully it does
<hunter0one> However I have to run it from another tty as it wont work with our dm init script
<hunter0one> but theres a lot of old scripts that it runs through to launch things like the display manager thats been there since the mandrake days, a lot of unnecessary cruft
<jaeger> That can definitely be a challenge sometimes
<hunter0one> yeah, I like helping PCLOS because its mostly a one man band but some things could learn from CRUX or others :-)
<jaeger> I always like having more sources/distributions to reference :)
<hunter0one> Yeah I look at CRUX and Venom a lot, because there are very very few elogindless distros left to look at for reference

<thingsis> Just did a fresh install of 3.7 and did a sysup ignoring gcc and glibc.
<thingsis> Two packages fail: libarchive and cmake
<thingsis> Is that a known issue? Libarchive wants libjsoncpp.so.25 but I have 26
<thingsis> Also, should I upgrade gcc and glibc as well?
<cruxbridge> <tim> try installing opt/prt-utils and run revdep. rebuild whatever it reports, e.g. like prt-get update -fr $(revdep)
<cruxbridge> <tim> and yes, why wouldn't you update gcc and glibc?
<thingsis> Just not sure about upgrading the toolchain. I’ll try your suggestion. Thanks!
<cruxbridge> <tim> just rebuild the things first, check with revdep afterwards and see if its happy now
<thingsis> Revdep only reports cmake, which fails to build
<cruxbridge> <tim> was this the 3.7 release iso you used or an updated version?
<thingsis> Doing gcc and glibc now to eliminate that as a cause
<cruxbridge> <tim> you might just want to pull an updated iso and update the packages from there
<thingsis> Yes it was
<cruxbridge> <tim> https://crux.ninja/ you can get an updated iso here
<thingsis> Or wait till 3.8 :-)
<cruxbridge> <tim> sure, or wait for 3.8, or install that rc :p
<thingsis> Couldn’t find the rc iso
<cruxbridge> <tim> ah, wait
<cruxbridge> <tim> https://crux.nu/files/rc/ here it is
<thingsis> Perfect. Thanks. Was looking for that secret location
