<jloc0> not sure if anyone else having wifi issues, but wpa_supplicant 2.11 completely breaks broadcom-wl wifi driver. downgrading back to 2.10 and it's all good, and using a usb dongle works on 2.11. But as of yet, I've seen no new patches for broadcom-wl, so I'm unsure the actual source of said issue.

<ppetrov^>
r0ni, this your repo?
<cruxbridge>
<jloc0> Yes sir
<cruxbridge>
<jloc0> (It needs “icu” as well, doesn’t pull it in. And “xdg-dbus-proxy” has a bad dep (not in my repo) but those few issues so far building on a fresh vm
<cruxbridge>
<jloc0> Oh yes jloc0=r0ni on matrix lol
<ppetrov^>
i kinda figured it out
<cruxbridge>
<jloc0> Gtk-doc as well needed… welp this is why I’m testing a clean build after all said and done it should be golden
<ppetrov^>
i am thinking to make Trinity (TDE) ports :P
<ppetrov^>
i have some and the basic desktop builds, but i faced some issues that had no time to reolve

<jloc0> Well it fails on a full iso install and it’s listed as a make dep elsewhere, outside of that, no special circumstances to get it to fail
<cruxbridge>
<tim> flatpak, yeah
<cruxbridge>
<tim> this log is from a clean 3.7 build container

<tim> do you have a build log handy?

<r0ni>
no, hence why i hadn't filed a report yet. My intention was to fulfill a lxqt install and ensure i wasn't missing deps (which, i am, but regardless..). likely against just core it passes, but the iso ships with more, so there's bound to be incompatibilities here and there. That was the only one I had come across with the iso contents
<cruxbridge>
<tim> gotcha
<r0ni>
TBH I'll likely add the dep to my meta port, this way failure is less likely to happen along the way

<earlgrey>
gday
<jaeger>
hello
<earlgrey>
i was considering using Crux. I'm mainly a Void user currently. Any tips?
<cruxbridge>
<tim> hello, i am using void somewhere else, but I dunno if there is anything standing out to me to mention as a tip so to say
<jaeger>
I don't know enough about void to really compare them so hard to say. Since crux is source-based you will spend a lot of time compiling packages, for what that's worth. There are lots of options for desktop environments, etc. Feel free to browse the portdbs in the topic to see what's available
<jaeger>
If you want to know about specifics feel free to ask
<cruxbridge>
<tim> oh wait, scratch that, alpine, not void :D i have no idea
<earlgrey>
whats the installation like?
<earlgrey>
primarily, void uses a text based install script
<jaeger>
simple dialog-based setup program
<cruxbridge>
<tim> r0ni: that sounds feasible. sounds like its a dependency somewhere else down the chain? If the Pkgfile just needs a fixup to allow a build let me know
<earlgrey>
hold on lemme restart my pc
<jaeger>
you create/format/mount partitions yourself, then run setup to install packages
<earlgrey>
whats the command setup?
<earlgrey>
i mean setup command
<jaeger>
It's called 'setup' - but before you go there, I'd recommend checking out the handbook: https://crux.nu/Main/Handbook3-7
<earlgrey>
also are there any default DEs/WMs?
<jaeger>
Might answer a lot of questions

<jaeger>
There's not really a default, though openbox is available on the ISO. Plenty of others in the ports tree like xfce, mate, kde, i3, sway, etc.
<ppetrov^>
jaeger, is kde plasma added to portdb?
<jaeger>
Not yet, but it's probably stable enough to be added at this point
