<frew> Hello, I'm not using crux right now, because I have only 1gb of ram in my netbook(and I don't know how to make custom iso), so Im trying antix, and I have a problem with uefi and grub, so can I ask for help? I ask here because I think that crux users are pro linux users
<SiFuh> You can't boot it from a system with less than 1GB frew
<frew> SiFuh, I know, so that's why Im trying antix
<SiFuh> frew: There is a way but it is not official
<SiFuh> Install and older version
<SiFuh> Then update everything even the kernel
<frew> Ok, I'll try later, but firstly I want to solve a efivar problem that I have
<SiFuh> Not in my league. Anyone ^
<SiFuh> Can you explain it? Maybe some of the guys can answer
<frew> So, I'm installing antix via cli(it has cli-installer which does everything) in uefi system, so at grub installation I've got a warning that "EFI variables are not supported on this system", didn't notice that, so after reboot I didn't have a GRUB entry in uefi. I checked: kernel options for efi are enabled(like CONFIG_EFIVAR_FS), command "efivar --list" doesn't work - show error: "Function not implemented"
<cruxbridge> <tim> Does your system actually support uefi boot?
<frew> I'm kinda newbie(3 month on arch), so I don't even know what to google and what mans to read
<frew> Tim, yes
<frew> or cruxbridge, I don't know what is a nick
<cruxbridge> <tim> I have no idea then. It sounds like your system acutally does not support uefi. Never used antix either, sorry
<cruxbridge> <tim> this channel is bridged to a matrix space, cruxbridge is a bot
<frew> I google a little, so I think the problem is efivarfs
<frew> but I don't know what to do next
<cruxbridge> <tim> can you name the exact hardware you are using?
<frew> asus eee pc 1015bx with amd c-60 cpu
<cruxbridge> <tim> what version of antix are you installing?
<frew> antix-23.1-core 32 bit
<cruxbridge> <tim> https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/installing-32-bit-antix-on-a-64-bit-computer/#post-119228 <- this is literally the first hit on google with 'asus eee pc 1015bx "uefi boot"' where it says that 32bit does not support uefi.
<cruxbridge> <tim> no idea if thats it but I guess this is the question you need answered because it looks like its true ;)
<cruxbridge> <tim> but a fair notice: i am not an expert on that either.
<cruxbot> [contrib/3.7]: ayatana-ido: 0.10.2 -> 0.10.3
<frew> If it's true(I)
<frew> if it's true(I'll try install 64 bit version) then I'm an idiot, thanks btw
<cruxbridge> <tim> sure, have fun
<frew> anyway after that I'll try older crux and update

<jaeger> I'm too late for that discussion but 32-bit UEFI was a total mess

<ukky> I was working recently on installing CRUX from scratch, from any foreign/CRUX ISO with dev tools, with selectable 32/64-bit arch, glibc/musl, i686/x86_64/aarch64, but this project is far from completion.
