<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: should be fixed by now. The linker wasn't able to apply -rpath=/usr/lib/p7zip to the one binary that needs a shared library (the others are statically linked), so the easiest fix was to put 7z and its shared library in the same subdirectory of /usr/lib, and have a wrapper script in the usual path /usr/bin.

farkuhar, i was wondering why unzipping with file-roller suddenly became problematic, but was 'fixed' by uzing unzip, not p7zip
<ppetrov^>
now all works fine

ppetrov^: interesting. I'll try to reproduce your error with file-roller. If I run into the problem you mentioned, then the p7zip footprint might need further changes.
<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: i just built file-roller and tested against the latest p7zip in contrib. Seems to work okay, both when opening existing *.7z archives and when creating new ones.
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: I tried to archive you and it failed :-P
<SiFuh>
Joking of course
<farkuhar>
SiFuh: did your mum get the new laptop you were going to order for her?
<SiFuh>
Nope
<SiFuh>
I was very annoyed about that actually
<SiFuh>
No orders from Malaysia. In fact, I can't buy a T-Shirt from Alex Jones' Infowars in Malaysia.

<farkuhar>
Sorry to hear that. Can you arrange for a friend back home to place the order on your behalf?
<SiFuh>
Holly shit, you just gave me an idea.
<SiFuh>
I don't have friends that I can trust in Australia
<farkuhar>
Isn't Romster in Australia?
<SiFuh>
Friends I trust will never put in an order because they don't want to break my trust
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Australia is freaking massive man
<SiFuh>
It would take me a day and a half to drive to Romster
<SiFuh>
Postage in Australia is very expensive
<SiFuh>
Cheaper to send a cargo ship from New York to Brisbane than to go from Brisbane to the customs house 2 KM away
<farkuhar>
I thought the problem was the discrepancy between a Malaysian billing address and an Australian delivery address. Surely the online vendor would be less suspicious if an Australian billing address was used to place an order for a different Australian address, even if a day and a half drive away.
<SiFuh>
No
<SiFuh>
The discrepancy was my brother
<SiFuh>
Or did you forget?
<farkuhar>
Remind me what role your brother plays here. I thought if the package was in your mum's name, your brother wouldn't have a chance to intercept the package.
<SiFuh>
My flat earth brother carries the iron hand of god when he realises that his authority is challenged by a mere package
<SiFuh>
On the sad side, my mother is getting closer to 80
<SiFuh>
farkuhar: Brother is a mammas boy who thinks he is GI Joe
<ppetrov^>
farkuhar, i use an old file-roller, which may be the problem. Normal people are not like me
<farkuhar>
ppetrov^: oh, I just installed the latest version (43.0), I forgot to check your repo to see what you were running.
<ppetrov^>
heh, no need to install ancient software... that's my problem, and to be honest i am kinda getting bored with this
<ppetrov^>
for the record, i am having problems with QT applications: every now and then the clipboard stops working properly. no idea what it is and i have no idea hopw to figure it out. Also, when using QT5 apps inheriting the TK2 theme,. the file open dialogue is a bit messed up when trying to show file details
<ppetrov^>
the clipboard thing is particularly annoying with rstudion, when i can paste code...
