<beerman>
looking further, it seems like you could have just dropped the old port and created your new port, there is no need to keep the name since you build a whole other package there
<beerman>
sorry, but what is that? 😄

beerman, sorry for not asking before editing the greetd README. Let me ask now: since jaeger was recently asking about w/who not showing the expected results, would it make sense to put a line in the README (rather than in the IRC chat where it won't be found as easily)?
<beerman>
Many things would make sense but polluting the fairly easy README surely isn't my preferred way so no, to me it makes no sense, same as the change in libmpcdec.
<farkuhar>
I mentioned in #crux that libmpcdec is basically abandonware. Even so, the upstream project *does* say that libmpcdec 1.2.6 is outdated, and recommends the SV8 tarball instead. Your suggestion to rename the port is a good one, especially since no other port currently depends on it.

jaeger, if you're curious: https://todo.sr.ht/~kennylevinsen/greetd/11 might need some upvotes in order to fix the odd behaviour you've noticed in w/who. If a two-year-old ticket starts generating more discussion, then the bug might be assigned higher priority.
<jaeger>
Noted... I've stopped messing with greetd but I'll keep an eye on it
