Looking to flash Ubuntu Minimal to the eMMC but it looks like the links to Robert C Nelson's flasher images are all broken. Is there a new repository for these or is Ubuntu on a BBB a DIY affair these days?

BeagleBegginer: well, Ubuntu has never been officially supported in the first place, the official distro has always been Debian (or in very ancient history Angstrom)

especially if you're going for a "minimal" install, there's not much reason to use Ubuntu instead of Debian anyway, as Ubuntu is based on Debian and very similar to it

(I don't exclude the possibility there are still ubuntu images, but since pretty much nobody cares about Ubuntu on BBB this isn't really something I keep track of myself)

but all pins have either default pull-up or default pull-down, except for the sysboot0-15 pins (aka lcd_data0-15) which are used as strapping options hence have internal pull disabled by default and instead have external pull-up/down resistors for the strapping options

i have anohter BB-AI at the office, still sealed, i can open that, but this is really a non-solution

to power up the BB-AI i need to keep pressed for 15 seconds the power button, this is bad^3
