[Discord] <weenig> Hi all! Quick question! Im attempting to install armbian and OMV on a Rock 4 SE. Ive tried a few different images from Radxa without luck. I stumbled upon this github page https://github.com/armbian/community/releases/tag/24.8.0-trunk.205 - which is the one linked from the Armbian download page for the Rock 4's. But i have found other sources saying that these builds a no good fo <clipped message>
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <weenig> r production - and there is even a message when booting the system for the first time saying not to use those types of images?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <weenig> How do i find a stable Armbian image i can install on my Rock 4 SE to install OMV on top of? THanks
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <igorpec> the difference between Armbian and others is that we try not to fool you. We say this, because we don't have a dedicated maintainer for this hardware. It might work good, but it might not boot at all. If it works, use it. If you tell us, its stable for you, perhaps step up as a maintainer https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Board-Support-Rules/ and we will declare it stable. Blin <clipped message>
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <igorpec> dly we can't say its stable. There are way too many boards out there and we cannot monitor all of them.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <igorpec> further. If you are skilled try to bring up OMV install extension, similar to Home Assistant, https://github.com/armbian/os/blob/main/userpatches/extensions/ha.sh and we can provide ready-to-run OMV images. Its some work, but this makes install simpler for future.

[Discord] <weenig> Thanks! Im gonna change a few things and see if that makes a difference.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <weenig> The odd thing is that it boots fine on some of the images i have found but if i reboot after running the apt-get update and apt-get upgrade commands it just wont work at all.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <weenig> If i plug a hdmi cable in it i can se that during booting a lot og processes fail.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <igorpec> failing on upgrade is probably related to issuficient powering. Confirm it by running some stress test. Try to get some insights also on forums.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <weenig> Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I just found out earlier today that a 5v USB-C is not sufficient for the rock 4 SE board alone. It needs 9v - so i will have to find an alternative way to power it.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <igorpec> oh, yes, than this is for sure ... when power is cut, filesystem can get fu* up and services failing

[Discord] <bassamanator> Experienced [🐳|💥] error! [ Unable to find free loop device ] even though I have options showing up with `ls /dev/loop*`. Last time I was able to build after creating a loop. Will try to rebuild.
