<mort> I downloaded the NanoPi R6S image (24.8.0, bookworm, minimal, 6.1 kernel) and wrote it to an SD card, and my NanoPi is not booting from it...
<mort> This is the output during boot from serial: https://p.mort.coffee/erL
<mort> Also, I noticed that the image only has one partition now? That seems weird
<mort> this "optee" thing seems unhappy
<mort> There's already an older armbian system on the internal MMC, could that be related?

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <rpardini> mort: yes. Just had the same on the NanoPC T6. For now just wipe or flash to eMMC. Long term need to bump Armbian's version of the blobs used for R6S so they better match what's on the eMMC.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <rpardini> the SoC loads blobs from eMMC first, but then loads part of u-boot from SD, and things end up not matching, and u-boot is unhappy about thinking it has a TEE when it doesn't cos it doesn't match.
<mort> rpardini: that's unfortunate, and .. this is kind of a big problem for me
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <rpardini> good that you know the solution, then.

<mort> I don't
<mort> I kinda need to be able to put in a new SD card and install a new version of my image to eMMC, regardless of what's on the eMMC; finding an old image with a u-boot version which expects the right version of the blobs and manually clearing out the eMMC is impractical

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <rpardini> yeah so PR a blob bump.
<mort> I don't know what a blob pump is
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <rpardini> booting from SD with mismatched blobs on eMMC is not something one can solve otherwise. just wipe your eMMC, or make the blobs match.
<mort> "make the blobs match", in practice, means "never update the blobs"
<mort> which I mean I'm fine with but I don't know how well armbian supports running armbian from 2035 with blobs from 2023

<mort> is there anything I can do at all to make it load blobs from the SD card? Or is there firmware which always prioritizes blobs from eMMC over blobs from the SD card
<mort> just changing it to load blobs from SD card if it exists and try eMMC otherwise would be enough to completely fix this problem it sounds like
