[Discord] <amazingfate> I can't boot rock5b edge now, no hdmi output. I don't have uart debugger now. I can boot vendor 6.1 image and then install edge 6.8.10 kernel to it, then reboot, hdmi has output. I guess it's about edge's mainline uboot.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <efectn> Perhaps some clock issues 🤔
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <lanefu> Hmm I've been using mainline uboot on rock5b for a long time... But I never look at HDMI
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <amazingfate> Toggling vendor uboot light up my screen. I remember mainline uboot did work with HDMI. At least after loading kernel, the monitor should work.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <rpardini> Hmmm yeah I did rock-5b's mainline uboot blind (don't have the board). Might very well be my fault.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <microlinux> Opi still does not fix their dtb issues. No wonder why no one wants to use their images.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> has anyone ever successfully booted Armbian within proxmox on a RK?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <lanefu> I run armbian uefi-arm64 VMs using libvirt on RK3588..... not using proxmox tho
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i cannot get the Qemu image to even boot
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i'll try the proper uefi-arm64 one
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <lanefu> yeah the plain qemu image isn't uefi, it's actually uboot ibelieve.. so it requires some hackery
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <lanefu> but if you enjoy hackery it boots fast lol
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i don't have a clue how to run a uboot image, and i couldn't give a monkeys about boot time, this is a single purpose VM that translates USB<->IP
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> unfortunately the fool that convinced me this was all a good idea is currently sleeping :')
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> UEFI image has booted fine, i'm just a goof, i'll shout at him to figure out uboot support later, ty @lanefu for pointing out the difference
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <mecoblock> in general: uboot is hardware specific while VM‘s need generic images.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <lanefu> The qemu image was before we even had uefi support. Was a science project I added to make Armbian VMs
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <menu> i actually don't even know if the oPi i'm using is using EDKII, it came with the PVE pre-loaded

[Discord] <alexl83> Have anyone tried vendor rockchip kernel 6.1.43 on orangepi5-plus? in my custom builds is basically unusable
