<DC-IRC> [Discord] <rpardini> Hey @spooky8086 -- I see you've a DT for the Mixtile Core 3588E, wondering if you did it yourself or did Mixtile supply smth? Maybe we can steal some ideas there for the Blade3?
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> I just received the Core3588E. Not sure yet what to do with it. If spooky has images then it"ll be ok I guess.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <spooky8086> The vendor device tree i do not like to be honest, i took it from their kernel repo, i would personally copy the RK1 device tree and make changes from there since they are so similar. I started to do this with a mainline device tree that works well, but i forget if the pwm fan works.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <spooky8086> They based the device tree from the Blade 3 and have some leftover stuff like the pcie2x1l0 node that does not exist on the Core 3588E.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <spooky8086> I did also get mainline u-boot working for the Core 3588E, but sadly the recovery method requires loader mode which does not work with mainline yet. I did some hacks to manually read SARADC and jump back to the bootrom, entering download mode. But this is bugged, when using rkdevtool flashing the device will fail.

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <spooky8086> ^the main reason i was trying to get mainline u-boot working is that nvme boot will not work with the vendor u-boot. There is a pcie quirk related to CLKREQ and i'm to lazy to fix the crappy vendor pcie code.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <monkablyat> It's very honorable of you to accept the board at all after most people, including me, professionally ignored the emails
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> I told them I had no time for it and they send it anyway. It'll be on the side for a while until I have nothing else to do. Bit a shame for such a costly board. But one time you've seen too much of the same. Now ZimaBoard and RaspPi5 on the way...
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> More Zimaboards?
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> Still need to make the review, probably coming week. Then play with RPi5. I need to make it worth all the money it cost me. I don't know if I will be able to make use of it.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> I'll send yours next month.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> No worries about that
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <efectn> Zimboard seems ınteresting. Good to have pcie2x4
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <efectn> Zimboard seems interesting. Good to have pcie2x4
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <efectn> But still pcie2 on 2024 for +200 dollars not good
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> True
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <monkablyat> Nico don't struggles with bugs and focuses on reviews. That's okay if he accepts the boards as long as it doesn't end up with countless boards of lower quality being added that nobody wants to maintain
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> It has 2 x SATA and 2 x USB3 what makes it very useful for me. It doesn't need to be the fastest board to be a good NAS. Replaced my NanoPi R6S with it and happy with it. I wouldn't pay that much for it, but it is a nice board. Heatsink keeps it cool at any condition. But would like to see better specs. I can only do with what I've got...
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> Haven't even used PCIe yet. Was thinking about trying my old GPU with a PSU.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> Suggest them to make a version with N305 😄
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> They now have an N100 NAS with 5 bays I think.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> Lemy check.
<DC-IRC> [Discord] <Werner> Would have been still too small for me 🙈

<DC-IRC> [Discord] <nicod_sbc> I got a slow NAS with HDD's downstairs and my fast storage in my room. That way I don't have to hear HDD noise.
