<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> good news, the PCIe 2 got merged so we can get the ethernets on a few rk3588's up and running
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> Heiko merged the Ethernet support for the T6 already, someone named John Clark sent the patch hours after my device tree got merged. That's actually exciting
<DC-IRC> <efectn> That's awesome
<DC-IRC> <Werner> \o/
<DC-IRC> <.kikoroo> Yes on radxa official rom, rsetup is available, and both display and touch are working fine,
<DC-IRC> <.kikoroo> But on ubuntu and armbian, rsetup isn't available, and had to enable overlays in boot/environment files, then only display works not the touch
<DC-IRC> <amazingfate> Which overlay you are using?
<DC-IRC> <amazingfate> You can just check /sys/devices/platform to see if nodes in overlay is loaded.
<DC-IRC> <.kikoroo> rock-5a-radxa-display-8hd
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> Do you think this will be applicable yet for the Khadas 3588s to get the Edge2 up and running?
<DC-IRC> <Tonymac32> I'm willing to push it for beer money, I otherwise have about 0 interest in that hardware, it isn't even able to be a headless build drone for me without using a hub
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> headless build drone?
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> you mean a build worker?
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> alright messing with nano pct4
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> because it's in a stupid case i don thav ea console cable lol..
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> trying to find the rom to push over rkdeveloptool so i can actually like.. flash emmc
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> they seem to bundle all their blobs inside of upgrade tool
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> duh i guess it's all here https://github.com/armbian/rkbin.git
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> why not just use ATF?
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> because I don't know what I'm doing
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> i really just wanna erase the emmc and thats it
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> boot from SDCARD and dd or `sfdisk --delete $DEVICE_NODE` the eMMC.
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> should kill what is on there.
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> yeah but booting from sdcard is the rub right
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> that's the dance that's a PITA
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> is it? it has a maskrom button. should work.
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> or bypass button whatever they call it.
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> hold down the button for 5 seconds whilst hitting the power button.
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> it then skips emmc and boots directly from SD.
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> very handy indeed
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> like on soldered boards like edge2
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> lemme find a known good image for my sdcard
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> recovery button or maskrom?
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> hold that down, turn on the device. let it go after 5 seconds.
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> okay so thanks.. and i can now say with confidence i understand _less_ aboutr maskrom on rockchip than i used to
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> so if you just _tap_ it on startup then, that boots it in the usb recoveyr mode shit?
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> where you use rkdevelptool hell
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> Mine will actually boot the SD if it detects it anway. The catch is, holding the button down bypasses the eMMC and the u-boot on it. Where if I don't hold it down, it loads eMMC u-boot and boots the OS on the SD.
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> I've never used rkdeveltool
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> That rebuild of the u-boot has been very useful...
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> It keeps you always having a microsd recovery option... quite handy
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> It is the only good RK board I have. 🙂
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> heheh
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> i'm annoyed by success lol
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> thanks tho
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> ur welcome
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> @c0rnelius77 if that Edge2 didn't do that it would be so annoying
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> now I can PR my update for the t4
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> They should all do that.
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> They do now
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> I think you had to change its order though
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> It still had that crazy OOWOW which fortunately I still have yet to use
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> it's kinda handy
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> yeah I wish AML devices had that switch.
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> Like the X96-AIR. If you some how hose the U-Boot on the eMMC, you have to short the board to put it in USB mode and then recover it from there.
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> i ran into woes with tinkerboard-2 where maskrom work, but then most of the firmware avaialble wouldn't init the emmc, so you couldn't wipe anything
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> as mentioned before UMS in uboot is my fav
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> OMG getting this monitor to handshake and wakeup to a freaking video signals is the most frustrating thing ever... and partially why I gave up on playing with desktops on SBCs
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> yeah it is a real pain the ass.
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> desktop/monitor on a sbc??? you can do that??
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> *ducks*
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> life was great at 1080p...
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> my HDMI KVM would instant switch and everything
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> it was great
<DC-IRC> <tenkawa42> At most the only time I ever hook one up is to test the output connectivity
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> pretty much how i roll as well
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> on my other desk i use a usb HDMI capture.. thats more reliable
<DC-IRC> <lanefu> just laggy
