<DC-IRC> <stamasd> Hm so something weird is going on with my OPi PC. The image I built booted - once. I did an apt update && apt upgrade, it finished (had it connected to wired ethernet for that). But after rebooting, it doesn't boot anymore. What's even weirder is that now even the official bookworm image downloaded from the Armbian website doesn't boot anymore. It stops at this:
<DC-IRC> <stamasd> so something fairly early in the boot process is causing it to fail
<DC-IRC> <stamasd> There's nothing weird about my setup.
<DC-IRC> <stamasd> power, HDMI, kb/mouse dongle, wifi dongle, and serial adapter (which is currently not connected to anything). The same happens even if I remove all of the dongles, and/or connect the ethernet cable
<DC-IRC> <stamasd> I'm puzzled that even a freshly downloaded image re-imaged onto the SD card fails to boot. Which it did before.
<DC-IRC> <stamasd> what's even weirder is that if I connect through the serial console with the HDMI cable disconnected, it doesn't fail. It boots all the way and seems to work perfectly fine. Same if I power it up with nothing connected and access it through ssh.
<DC-IRC> <stamasd> I thought maybe it's a heat issue, but no. The chip is barely warm. And if I leave it unpowered for a while and thry to boot it cold, the same happens.

<DC-IRC> <stamasd> Reported CPU temp is 37C while running
<DC-IRC> <c0rnelius77> Try a diff PSU.
<DC-IRC> <stamasd> I can probably dig a 3A/5V USB adapter, and I do have a USB/barrel cable for this... but the original PSU worked fine so far
<DC-IRC> <stamasd> other PSU didn't make a difference 😦
<DC-IRC> <viraniac> @stamasd I find the sysrq: Power Off line quite interesting. Could you please try building a image yourself and see if the system fails to boot there as well? If yes, could you please try disabling CONFIG_MAGIC_SYSRQ in the kernel config and see if that helps
