<Guest30>
what's up with the nMigen gitlab one updated 3weeks ago?
<tpw_rules>
i don't know the exact details, but there were some trademark and contractual disputes between amaranth's original author and the organization the work was done for. as a result, the original author has forked and renamed the project to amaranth
<tpw_rules>
lkcl working on what is now nmigen is an.. interesting development
<Guest30>
Hmm ok, amaranth's main branch last update was in June... Is it still in active dev?
<tpw_rules>
it's slow, but yes. there are some PRs being worked on
<tpw_rules>
fwiw it looks like nmigen is not in very active dev, most of the commits since the fork have just been taken from amaranth
<tpw_rules>
or are PRs/issues filed on amaranth
<Guest30>
Thanks for the clarification!
<tpw_rules>
even at 0.3 amaranth is really very pleasant to use and i highly recommend it. the big next thing is the Record support
<tpw_rules>
for collections of signals

robtaylor: did you ever get the info you wanted on amaranth funding?
<Guest30>
why is Migen still in development since now there is nMigen/Amaranth?
<tpw_rules>
i would say litex, but i don't know for sure
<robtaylor>
tpw_rules: Hey, yes got some useful things. EU funding applied for!
<tpw_rules>
what did you mean by "quote"s?
<robtaylor>
Descriptions from folk about what they had used amaranth/nmigen/migen to build and how effective it had been
<tpw_rules>
ah, i could have provided that too. good to hear that it's progressing though
