IgorPec, please freeze OLIMEX Teres-1 kernel on 6.1.74 until furhter notice, the thermal developers with NXP are messing with thermal drivers and it's causing overheating of the components that cause thermal failsafe and i am worried about an increased risk of hardware damage, i am in talks with the devs on how to handle this upstream

[Discord] <Tonymac32> link to commits causing the grief?
<KREYREN_>
the issues are observed since 6.5 i was told that 6.1. will maintain the old style thermal drivers
<KREYREN_>
apparently the solution is to adjust the DTS same as we already do for H6 but i am in discussion about the implementation

[Discord] <viraniac> I first started to notice overheating sometime around when 6.1.66 or something close to that got released. Thats when I stopped updating kernel. But since then kernel version management is centralized and all boards not just allwinner are getting bumped automatically
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> I noticed some boards were running upto 20C hotter than what they were running at before. Just had no time to track it down

viraniac, please don't try to issue downstream fix for this
<KREYREN_>
this should be managed upstream
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> I was just sharing my oberservations, hoping to help you with your search. I personally am too overworked to patch anything in allwinner at the moment
<KREYREN_>
oke, i reported it to sunxi who seem to be overwhelmed with FOSSDEM so i expect them to investigate this tomorrow
<KREYREN_>
viraniac, for that H6 patch that adds the thermal zones declared in DTB did you noticed the thermals getting better?
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> cool. lets hope it gets fixed upstream. Once it does, we can release the updated kernel via apt upgrades if needed
<KREYREN_>
as the developer who was supposed to handle that in linux kernel seemed to went on xmas and then forgot to adjust the DTB for A64
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> I didn't checked for that. The last thing I checked for H6 was hdmi audio because it was reported to be broken. It does work on Desktop image. For cli, once softvol is configured and volume is raised, audio works fine.
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> Thats the last I checked. It was about 15-20 days back
<KREYREN_>
noted
<KREYREN_>
i try to approach the dev who submitted the patch for H6 for results as the solution seems to be a simple adjustment of DTB such as https://dpaste.org/bq6MX/raw
<DC-IRC>
[Discord] <viraniac> Last I checked, the trips we have were coming from Megous kernel tree. I didn't noticed anything changing in that configuration.
